I met the W family at the cosmos flower fields in Delta Park for a shoot late one afternoon. We had postponed the shoot a few times due to rain and freezing weather but thankfully this afternoon worked out well.

The flowers are only in season for a few weeks every year so these shoots have to be fitted in calendars.

I’m so very thankful we decided to meet on Thursday afternoon because when I got there I saw that the parks people had started clearing the flowers from the field! Half the field that I’d used the weekend before was already gone. The flowers were nearly finished anyway, but they could really have left them for another week. Surely cutting them down too early is also not great for next year’s flower prospects?

One of the great things about doing this shoot at the end of the cosmos season is that the trees have started with their autumn shades. I love the yellow treed backdrops in some of the shots.
