It was Renee and Heinrich’s wedding at Toadbury Hall in Muldersdrift yesterday. It was also the first wedding of the year for me.

Renee booked me for the wedding a few months ago, so it was very cool to finally meet them when they arrived from Germany this week. I really do enjoy meeting couples before the wedding so that we can chat about how they met and what the wedding plans are all about. Even though they booked me just for the family photos and couple shoot, it was important for me to understand the day’s timing.

When they spoke about their plans for the ceremony, I just knew that this was really special to them. So I suggested that I start before the ceremony instead of afterwards. You know I like telling my clients stories. In their case, the story was definitely in their blessing and the holy communion.

You see, Renee and Heinrich met online a few years ago and she’s moved to Germany to be with the love of her life. He came to South Africa to meet her in 2016, and they got married at Toadbury Hall before he went back home. This wedding day was to be a blessing and the celebration with family that they didn’t have then.

Heinrich walked in flanked by his two friends who came all the way from Germany to be part of the blessing.

After the blessing ceremony, Renee and Heinrich served communion for their family.

Once the family photos were over, it was time for us to have some fun. I just love this lavender field!

I really did enjoy being a part of their celebration.
