Angel’s Pamper Party

Angel‘s Pamper Party was held today and as you can see from the photos below, everyone was asked to wear red and purple:)  It was such a fun afternoon with a few games and loads of laughter… and she even baked cupcakes for her own party!

It was fabulous to see so many blogging ladies together with her family and friends… and not to mention Briget, who drove from Durban especially for the event!! How special is that?!

Heidi and Sheena

Briget (and she didn’t believe I would put a photo of her on my blog tonight;)) and Laura

Ready for the games

As you can see, Angel and Stef didn’t waste any time trying to sabotage the others attempts with the cotton wool (including a blogger I’d never met before, Alida)

Angel had to dress a “likeness” of Glugster

Laughing with Exmi

I had to show you photos of Sheena’s gift. It was just simply too awesome for words… the card said “Angel’s Marriage Survival Kit”! So much effort went into it, and I actually had tears at times listening to the messages (I know, I’m a softy). The box was filled with little gifts, each one with a tag and a message for them. It had things like earbuds for when he’s not listening, and a sewing kit for mending them when they’re hurting, and a reminder for her to get her hair done sometimes and granny panties to remind her to be sexy and some tiger socks (can’t remember why) etc etc… ahh man, it was just so awesome!

And lastly, definitely the gift that came the furthest…

And so now the countdown to the wedding really heats up… 3 weeks to go before the big day!! Stay tuned for those photos (I’m the official photographer for the event and I’m so excited about it!)

167/365 – the boys at play

I’ve got a weekend off this weekend with no photoshoots, so I took photos of the kids playing at home instead. The new swords and knife play sets were bought yesterday as a result of good behaviour.

We’ve been using star charts recently. They’ve been working like a charm, and yesterday’s toys were as a result of Connor finally pooing in the toilet for 2 weeks consecutively, and Bradley getting to bed on time and helping around the house!

I was actually surprised that they chose such cheap toys… R40 each!! And I’d promised Connor almost the world if he poo’ed (a Bruder digger costing R400 and Toy Story lego set costing R300) and he rejected them all in the end for the cheap option. That made me even more happy!! And look how they both enjoyed playing with them too!

These are my Weekly Winners for Lotus’ challenge

Yolanda - June 22, 2010 - 10:25 am

Well done Connor… :)

Wenchy (49 comments.) - June 21, 2010 - 4:32 pm

This reminded me so much of Kevin and Liam when they were small. The swords stuck in the back of the tops… bashing down things. :)

Denise (6 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 10:23 pm

Proof you don’t need expensive toys to have a total blast… the looks on their faces. They’re so intense into their play. I remember those days… LOVE the shot of the ring. VERY cool catch.

JessicaGiggles (13 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 8:53 pm

I absolutely love these pics! And it’s great that the most fun is usually had with the cheapest items!

Sarah (9 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 8:07 pm

I have daughters so the toys are totally different but I love their fierce faces as they play with their new toys! Looks like they’re having fun!

Sarah (1 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 6:48 pm

The fierce faces are TOO cute!!
I’ve seen those toys at Toys R Us here, and have considered them for my son!

stacey@Havoc&Mayhem (9 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 3:59 pm

What fun photos! Mine have that sword & shield set too

Secret Agent Mama - Mishelle Lane (86 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 3:23 pm

I’ve tried to bribe David and he still won’t toilet train. I must have the most stubborn kid in the world. Takes after his mother, I guess. ;)

What’s the R equivalent to in dollars?

Tara R. (58 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 2:14 pm

Looks like the boys had quite a tournament. Conner’s ‘game face’ is very intimidating.

113/365 – Just the boys

Madi and Sharon came over to our house this afternoon with the kids.  The rain thankfully stopped while they were here, and even though it was freezing, the kids had a ball playing outside.

If you’re wondering where Carmen (Andrew’s sister) is… she had locked herself in Bradley’s bedroom to escape the puppies… so I only got to take photos of the boys today:)

I have to also add these 3 photos… Bradley took them!! I think they’re brilliant.  I gave him my camera to use with the 50mm f1.8 on it.  Cool hey?!  They’re SOOC (straight out of camera), just resized to fit on a collage!  Not bad for an almost 7 year old:)

Secret Agent Mama (86 comments.) - April 18, 2010 - 4:19 pm

I’d definitely call that a successful scout!!

I love that first shot. The DOF is INSANE. Is that taken with your 50mm? or did you get an 85mm?

A week in Shelly Beach (Days 95 to 99 out of 365)

We’ve just come back from our seaside holiday in Shelly Beach, which is a town on the south coast of Kwazulu Natal.  This is a catch-up post with photos that I took while we were away… and yes, I’m still on top of my Project 365, I haven’t missed a day yet:)

Every evening we went for walks along the beach, and the kids caught sand crabs (there’s a tiny sand crab on Bradley’s hand in the first photo) and wrote their names in the sand and waded in the shallows

Bradley and I went for a walk on the beach on the second afternoon while Connor had a nap.  We noticed a cormorant perched on the edge of the tidal pool, so naturally, I had to get as close as I could for my photo for the day!!  Thankfully I went to the beach with my 70-200mm f2.8 lens! What an amazing experience, the bird let us get quite close to it, before he dived into the pool for a swim.  It was amazing to watch him dive over and  over again looking for fish for his supper. He caught 3 fish while we were there, but it happened so very quickly, that I only managed to get the moment on camera once!

The mornings were spent on the swimming beach at St Michael’s on Sea… doing what you’re supposed to do on holiday… swim and play in the sand!

Then I had another fortunate encounter, this time with a few seagulls that let me get quite close!

The weather on our last day was awful, so we went to the Riverbend Crocodile Farm in Southbroom to have a wander around.  I wasn’t as impressed with that farm, as I had been with a similar farm close to Ballito that we’d been to a few years ago… in fact it was quite disappointing… but the kids enjoyed it.

Jeanette (31 comments.) - April 12, 2010 - 3:09 pm

Thanks, but there isn’t anything added to the croc photo, just used f2.8 on the lens to get the DoF :) Thanks all

Secret Agent Mama (86 comments.) - April 12, 2010 - 2:38 pm

These are awesome, Jenty! What’s even more awesome is the fun that is shown to be had!

Fiona - April 12, 2010 - 2:00 pm

Meghashyam Chirravoori (1 comments.) - April 12, 2010 - 1:48 pm

Wow… How did you catch those crocodiles in such a beautiful position on land?

They actually seem cute. :)

Its beautiful, your photography…especially the crocodile photo with the special background effects you have added…

cat@juggling act (218 comments.) - April 12, 2010 - 11:40 am

Your pictures are great as ever – I was a bit slack – have a picture a day but none great.

We were right close on your last day – we did that croc farm last time and was also disappointed. We drove around there and near Pistols and then decided to go south to Port Edward side -= landed at the coffee farm – worth a visit.
