At the end of every school term, the karate kids are graded, and then the following week they have an open day for the parents to watch what they’ve been doing in karate over the period… and they get their results.  And this term, Bradley graduated from Yellow + 3 to Orange!

Bradley asked me so nicely to watch him today, and so I flew to the school after a meeting and got there just after they started (mostly late because some stupid woman bashed into my car on the way there).

It’s always awesome watching him do sport, and he really loves his karate!

Oh and one last one… my mom and Connor :)

And if you’re wondering how I took them on such a gloomy day… I hiked my ISO up to 1250, and set the f-stop to 2.8 :)

I met up with Bradley and Connor this afternoon at the Randburg Sports Grounds to watch Bradley’s last cricket match of the term.  And I was so glad I was there… their team won for the first time this term… against a school that is known for it’s sports prowess :) )

I’m more than proud!! Bradley got 4 runs not out, and a wicket!!

And of course cutie Connor with his ever present dirty face… eating an ice cream… as you do on a hot summers day watching your brother have fun

and lastly… Bradley’s reaction just after he’d bowled and realised he’d taken a wicket :)

You see the shirt that Connor’s wearing?  I bought it today (well I actually bought 2… one for each boy).  I bought it knowing that it’s only going to be worn for a few weeks.  Stupid right?  Well, I think it’s stupid too!!  The problem is that the school is also doing the Cricket Friday thing because of World Cup Cricket happening in a few weeks… and all the kids are encouraged to wear cricket shirts.  Except… they’re as scarce as hens teeth… in fact they impossible to find!!

And… oh and… then there’s the Rugby World Cup this year too!! And I know there’s going to be a STUPID t-shirt thing for that too… which means another few hours with fruitless shopping on the horison for more illusive t-shirts that’ll only be worn for a few weeks!!

OK, grumble over… I’m not feeling this whole spirit thing clearly!

Bradley was selected for the cricket team which played mini cricket today against another local school.  Mini cricket takes place at the Randburg Sports Club every week and all the local schools compete against each other.

Today was their first match of the year, and Bradley was very excited to be a part of it.  I wasn’t feeling well at work today, and left early… and I popped in on my way home to watch him play.  I know, you’re probably saying… she said she was sick… but seriously as a mom, I cannot miss an opportunity to watch my son play a sport when I’m driving past the grounds anyway on my way home.

It was so cool to watch.  Bradley is batting and bowling so well… Lance has been practising with him at home for the last few months… he just now needs to work on concentrating on the game and running between the wickets.  He tends to go into a dream state after hitting a ball, and he just stands glued to the ground for a while :)

The week after Bradley’s karate grading happens, the parents are invited to watch a karate class at the dojo on the school premises.  I love going to see how Bradley is doing… and I do giggle at the chaos that still happens in the class with the kids having fun (although it’s definitely more disciplined than when they were younger).

I’ve decided to simplify my signature on my photos, so that I can blog directly from Lightroom… which means I’m now no longer using Photoshop unless I want a texture on a photo!
