193/365 – Images from the Park

Park photos again… this time I was very excited to find a sign of spring!! The protea tree I was taking a photo of, had new purple leaves:)

And it was such a beautiful sight to see, especially after walking in the icy icy icy cold weather!

I love looking at your pics, and feeling like I’m almost there with you. I wish I was…I’d love to take pictures right along with you. It would be so fun.

184/365 – Gloomy skies

The skies have been grey for a few days now… really not conducive to happy photo taking… but I just loved this scape that I spotted when I took the dogs walking this evening

Avril (Mom) (385 comments.) - July 7, 2010 - 5:11 pm

We had sunshine for most of the day today .. but now it’s clouded over again .. miz again :( Northcliff would be perfect for a Jhb skyline shot!
Love the photo of Mr Fiss-ter .. he always puts a smile on my face too! Such a lovable child, that one !

Jeanette (31 comments.) - July 7, 2010 - 11:00 am

@Firefly – I keep meaning to stop behind Northcliff Hill… I went to the spot for a shoot at a house, but never got my city scape… it would be perfect there

Firefly (284 comments.) - July 7, 2010 - 9:44 am

Every time I’m in Jhb I threaten to go and find a spot to get a proper Jhb skyline photo and every time I get bak on the plane I tell myself next time.

That is beautiful. I agree – not conductive to photography in general.

158/365 – Joburg’s golden sunset

I went home a little early yesterday afternoon because of the kids, and used the opportunity to take the kids and puppies for a walk in the park.   There was the most amazing light, and even though I didn’t manage to get good photos of the dogs, I couldn’t resist grass and sunset shots!  The dogs were not easy to photograph today, as there was another husky taking a walk… and they just wanted to play… which is not the easiest thing in the world when you’re juggling dog on leash, and camera, and child.

We really do have beautiful sunsets at this time of year.

I am a sucker for sunrise/sunset photos and love this one with the grass in front..well done!

J Bar - June 12, 2010 - 5:15 am

Beautiful shot.

148/365 – Fiery African Skies

I just LOVE the sunsets at this time of year, and I was in the perfect spot in the traffic this afternoon to stop at the park where we take the dogs walking to get these photos.  And to top it off, I managed to get the cabbage tree silhouetted… and they’re my favourite indigenous tree that grows in the area.

I can’t wait for the “Day After” shoot I’m doing on Saturday in the veld:)

They are pretty aren’t they. I do love the one with the grass.

cat@juggling act (218 comments.) - June 1, 2010 - 3:12 pm

Oh these are stunning!

Firefly (284 comments.) - June 1, 2010 - 10:17 am

I like the sunsets this time of year because they are earlier and you don’t have to go out for them as late as in summer. Same with sunrises. Beautiful pics.

Eileen (11 comments.) - May 31, 2010 - 9:33 pm

WOW! Stunning images:)

Avril (Mom) (385 comments.) - May 31, 2010 - 9:29 pm

Wow – nice ! Didn’t see the sunset today – missed something special :( Why don’t you plant a cabbage tree?

Mike - May 31, 2010 - 9:26 pm

Awesome pics!

Fiona - May 31, 2010 - 8:37 pm

Such gorgeous pics!

The Rand Airshow

What a fabulous way to spend a Sunday… the perfect autumn day on the Highveld with not a cloud in the sky… and an airshow at the Rand Airport in Germiston!

These planes were my favourite… the Silver Falcon team… not just because of the awesome aerobatics… but also the fabulous paintwork! Spot the falcon’s face under the pilot, and then the full falcon’s wings underneath the plane.

The boys had a ball, OK,  we didn’t stay for the entire show because they were getting rather bored after 3 hours, but it was awesome!  On that note, this last shot was taken by Bradley (remember he’s 7 years old)… isn’t it stunning?!! It’s perfect with the plane perfectly in focus over the ground and perfectly composed.  He used my camera (Canon 50D) with the 24-70mm lens.  Next time we go to something like this, I’m going to give him my old camera to use for the day.

… and there’s more on a set on Flickr.  I took over 800 photos in the 3 hours, so cutting them down to 40 favourites was a good attempt:)

Kim (78 comments.) - June 2, 2010 - 1:30 am

The color and crispness of each shot is amazing.. and little Bradley did a great job with that last photo.. esp considering how heavy that lens is!!

Jaco Janse van Vuuren (1 comments.) - May 26, 2010 - 9:28 pm

Great images! What lens did you use?
Thanks for the comment on Melanie’s pics! Let me know and I’ll do your shoot.

Ladynred (6 comments.) - May 25, 2010 - 5:43 pm

These are awesome shots1 I love them all. There you go Bradley…great job!

Angel (192 comments.) - May 25, 2010 - 7:43 am

And Bradley has an awesome eye for a picture! He so needs a camera to use!

Angel (192 comments.) - May 25, 2010 - 7:42 am

Holy crap. These are spectacular Jenty. I dunno how you get such AWESOME composition when you don’t necessarily know exactly where they’re going to be in the sky.
These are truly worth selling!

Sharon (60 comments.) - May 24, 2010 - 9:56 pm

I so badly wanted to go but it wasn’t possible. I’m really envious. Glad you had a good time though. Lovely shots, I can almost hear the engines

Pierre - May 24, 2010 - 8:24 pm

Avril (Mom) (385 comments.) - May 24, 2010 - 1:54 pm

Absolutely awesome !!! WOW ! So clear against the blue blue sky! Captured superbly! Bradley’s photo is fantastic! Well done Bradley!
Sorry we didn’t go with you :( .. next time?:)

Jeanette (31 comments.) - May 24, 2010 - 11:22 am

Thanks for the compliment, I had to go and look up what that meant ;) I was worried more about the composition, but I’m planning on going to more of these and will work out how to do that.

Tanya (50 comments.) - May 24, 2010 - 10:18 am

Firefly (284 comments.) - May 24, 2010 - 9:29 am

Simply stunning shots. Just shows what a talented photographer with a good camera can do. Awesome.

Gilz (177 comments.) - May 24, 2010 - 9:28 am

We went as well but my shots are nowhere NEARLY as awesome as yours. I had tons of fun and so did the girls.

Jientje (21 comments.) - May 24, 2010 - 8:40 am

He’s going to be as talented as you are!

Stunning pics. Was a lovely day for it – beautiful blue sky….
Only thing which would have made your pics absolutely perfect would have been prop discs – but bloody difficult to capture. Take nothing away, I LOVE your photos……

Girish (78 comments.) - May 24, 2010 - 5:55 am

Fabulous shots. It’s good to see such wonderful planes on the nice blue background.
