Bradley was selected for the cricket team which played mini cricket today against another local school.  Mini cricket takes place at the Randburg Sports Club every week and all the local schools compete against each other.

Today was their first match of the year, and Bradley was very excited to be a part of it.  I wasn’t feeling well at work today, and left early… and I popped in on my way home to watch him play.  I know, you’re probably saying… she said she was sick… but seriously as a mom, I cannot miss an opportunity to watch my son play a sport when I’m driving past the grounds anyway on my way home.

It was so cool to watch.  Bradley is batting and bowling so well… Lance has been practising with him at home for the last few months… he just now needs to work on concentrating on the game and running between the wickets.  He tends to go into a dream state after hitting a ball, and he just stands glued to the ground for a while :)

I’m so very proud of my little boy.  We went to the Junior Primary Honours event this evening at his school, and Bradley got a Certificate for Outstanding Academic Performance.

How cool is that?!

There was a note in Bradley’s homework book yesterday, from Bradley, asking me to attend the school assembly this morning (and letting us know they could wear civvies for the day).  Thankfully, my meetings weren’t set for early in the day and I could go and watch.

Each class in Junior Primary gets to put on a small skit every week, and this week was Bradley’s class’ turn.  They acted out a small story from the bible (probably leading up to Christmas considering Jesus was in the story), and it was very cute.  I liked that everyone in the class got to do something, and everyone had to participate.

If you’re wondering how I did the photos… I was sitting at the back of the hall with the other parents, and used my 70-200mm f2.8 lens without the flash at ISO 800.

It was Connor’s school concert today, and the theme of the show was “Around the World”.  Connor’s class dressed as Africans, and sang “African Drums” and “Waka Waka”

In other news… I’m so so ultra stoked!! I’ve just seen a tweet from  Lotus telling the world that I won a Kelly Moore Bag on her Review blog!! How awesome is that?!! I’ve been hankering after those bags… they’re the shizz!  Now the problem is the choice!! I want either a B-Hobo in grey or a Kelly Boy bag or.. or… oooh I can’t decide!

There was a Mothers Day assembly at the school yesterday morning, and of course, I had to be there because I knew Bradley would be singing for the moms.  The school does this every year, but this year it seemed to be a little more organised with tea vouchers and bookmarks for the moms.

I, however, didn’t get one of those! You see, I’m not at home in the afternoons like Lance is, so he does Bradley’s homework.  He only told me about the assembly on Thursday night.

Bradley also didn’t tell me about it, and in fact, assumed that because I’m always so busy and hardly at home, that I wouldn’t be able to attend.  So he told his teacher that I wouldn’t be there.  Imagine how I felt when I found this out on Thursday.

Then Bradley got upset, because he thought that I now wouldn’t go because of what he’d told his teacher. Silly boy!! Of course I would have made a plan :)   So anyhoo, I got to watch the whole thing… but didn’t get my tea… but no matter, I was there for the important bit :)

It’s quite an event actually, with the choirs and drama teams singing and reciting poems with the intent to make all the moms cry… which they duly did.  And the most impressive part of these events is the way they manage to get ALL the kids in the entire school singing and dancing on the field.

Note the lack of school uniforms… it was football friday… all the kids are encouraged to wear soccer 2010 t-shirts and jeans.  But as you can also see, there aren’t many of those because there’s a shortage of kids ones and when you find them they’re like hugely expensive which is insane for a shirt a child will wear for 6 months!
