I’ve had a good birthday today.  Quiet… but good.

The stuff list on my other blog was just the trick, and I got a whole host of things from the list :) Because I didn’t get up to much apart from shopping and kids stuff and having dinner at my parents’ house, I thought I’d make today’s blog post with photos taken everywhere I went (apart from the shops)

My birthday actually started last night, when Madelein and her clan came over and we ordered take-away pizza from Colcacchios… that has to be the BEST take-away pizza we’ve ever had… and we managed to order wheat free pizza too!

I got so many compliments today about this perfume… even Connor told me that I smelt really nice :)

I finally, finally have something from Le Creussett

Oh and I just love these tulips that I got from my mom yesterday… and I just discovered the macro function on my new lens!!

I went to the opening of Tranquil Body Therapy at their market stall in Lifestyle Garden Centre… definitely buying stuff when I go there again tomorrow as I’ve discovered that Leigh-Ann’s (she owns it) kids creams are made without sulphur and sulphates!!   And the mens range looks quite good too.

Then it was dog walking time in the most beautiful golden light

And finally my mom’s famous chocolate cake…

Kimo is forever grabbing socks and shoes and in fact, he loves pulling my underwear off the washing line and running off with it. Yesterday however, if you are following me on Twitter and Facebook, you would have seen that he’s now surpassed that trick!

Just after Angelique and Jordan left yesterday, I noticed him running in the garden with one of Connor’s socks in his mouth, so we gave chase.  He was not prepared to give up his prize, and disappeared into a bush… only to come out the other side gulping… and the sock was nowhere in sight!

After reading a few reactions to this story on Twitter and Facebook, I decided to phone the vet.  The dog of course, looked fantastic after the incident.  He had a few gulps of water, and ran around like normal, and even managed to find a piece of paper to eat too!!

Eventually the vet got back to me and said I should really bring him in.

Poor thing!  He got given mootie to make him vomit, and he had to stay overnight as it makes dogs really ill.

When I picked him up this afternoon, the vet presented me with the sock… still in one piece and just needing a wash :)   He also told me that the sock was bigger than he thought from my discussion with him, and that we’re lucky that I was there to see him do it, and lucky we got it out, as it would definitely have caused problems and resulted in an operation!!

And Kimo of course was just beside himself.  He yelped and howled all the way home and licked me a few times too :) .  Kitara on the other hand, didn’t fare too well without her brother, so she went completely mental when I brought him home and then came to give me a few licks too :)

Their reunion was too cute!

So then I took them and the boys for a quick walk in the park…  he looks perfectly fine doesn’t he?!

Looney dog!! And it’s not like he’s learnt his lesson either, he was scavenging at the park… finding papers and all sorts of things to chew!

I can’t resist adding this photo of Connor trying to lead Kitara :)

We had another hectic day today with delivering photos and getting photo supplies and going to watch a movie… so we took the dogs for a walk in the park this afternoon to do something outside.

The puppies are getting very familiar with that park, and the regular dogs have become buddies.  So much so, that we are able to take their leads off already.  They’re very good actually, well Kimo is… he stays close to me most of the time. Kitara, however,  has a listening issue and she’s so petrified of cars that when she realises we’re going home she stops dead in her tracks until her lead is put on again.

I still haven’t quite managed to get a good shot of the puppies showing how big they are now.  When Kat and Stella came to my house a few weeks ago they were surprised at how small the huskies were because apparently they’ve always looked big in my photos. They’re 4 months old now, if you’re wondering ;)   But I think the photo with them running with their new buddies almost does the trick

First though, check how Kimo’s colouring has changed, his coat is now more grey than cream

And Kitara is just as pretty and striking

This bike was a big mistake and I ended up carrying it around most of the park

I couldn’t resist this when I spotted the sun behind the hill

These 2 older dogs are their buddies Isis (the 5 year old husky) and 12 year old Rex… the puppies love running and playing with them. Not the best photo I’ve ever taken but the only one that kinda shows how big they are.

We met up with these french poodles again today too, and our puppies were NOT interested in trying to chase the hoop like the poodles were doing

I had to leave the office early today to pick the kids up, and instead of taking them to my mom‘s house after we did homework, my mom joined us at the local park for a bit of a dog walk.   It was fun, and I think the walk was a fabulous idea for my mom, who has been feeling a little under the weather lately.

How cool is Connor’s new “soccer” shirt?! It was made by one of the mom’s at his school.

It’s a pity the view is so murky, but on a clear day you can see the entire Joburg skyline from that particular spot.

And thankfully, even though the municipality had cut the grass since my trip there on Monday, there were odd patches of beautiful long grasses that were just waiting for me and my camera :)
