Last night we went to a friend’s house to see the New Year in… and ended up going home at 10pm cos the kids were so whiny!! LOL! Anyhoo, we had fun while we were there
It was a simple affair, with a mix of food to eat and share… and plenty of kids to run around a create noise. And our hosts bought sparklers for the kids, and those light fountains to light in the garden (which are awesome cos they’re fireworks without the bang so they’re pet friendly).

Hope you all had a splendiferous New Year celebration, and 2011 will treat you all kindly

We spent the afternoon at my parent‘s house, and the kids had a ball on Erin’s waterslide that she got from Father Christmas… and then the pool

Jackie was too funny. She’s never been interested when the kids are in the pool, but today she actually came to ask to get splashed.

That’s what Connor asks when he puts on his cap… which he first has to wear sideways or backwards.
He’s very cool, my kid

I went to Woodlands Spa in Muldersdrift today with 2 colleagues. Bliss! My day of pampering entailed time in the steam room, then the pool, then a exfoliation and body wrap (simply awesome), then a Hot Stone massage (just too amazing for words), then a pedi and mani and ended with a facial.
What more could a girl ask for?
It’s a stunning place. The setting is just perfect on the banks of a river so you hear the sound of water rushing over the rocks all day. Just perfect! What was even better was that it wasn’t very busy, so we basically had the place to ourselves
As you can imagine, I didn’t take many photos, I was kinda busy
but I did manage to get a few

This shot is by far my favourite. I love the way the small bonzai has been placed on a tree trunk. The imagery speaks to me.

Can you believe that I have only 15 days left to go in my 365 photo-a-day challenge?!

I took the dogs to Walkhaven in Muldersdrift today for a bit of a run. I didn’t take my normal camera though, because I wasn’t sure how wild they would be. Instead I went armed with my new iPhone (and no, it’s STILL not activated MTN!!). These are the only photos I’ve posted this year that haven’t been shot on a Canon actually!
Anyhoo, what a stunning place. The dogs behaved beautifully. Both went swimming in the dam, and they both just went a little mad running everywhere. I was so so proud of them actually. There was this big dog that took a dislike to a small little terrier of sorts. The terrier just started yelping, and that made the bigger dog (not sure what kind of dog it was) just go for it. Kimo took one look at this lot, and went running. I was so worried he was going to take out the big dog like he did with that rottweiller that attacked Kitara a few months ago; but he went up to the big dog, bit it’s tail and pulled it off the smaller dog, and then just walked off!!
How cool is he?!
The owner of the little dog gave him a big pat and said thanks
)) ***proud mama moment for me***

Other than that incident, it went so well… definitely taking them back there! And I’m taking my proper camera next time, my dogs run way too fast for the little iPhone… and I needed the zoom!
