As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we drove to Parys on Sunday to visit MIL. And what would a trip to Parys be without some photos of the dry Freestate landscape taken through the window of the car as we’re whizzing on the highway
You might wonder why we never stop. Partly because we just want to get there and then home again, and partly because of the boys. If Lance had to stop the car and I had to get out, we’d have 2 boys whining and crying that they also want to get out… and then it’ll take half an hour per stop instead of 5 minutes. So I take the photos at high speed instead and thereby testing my fast shutter speed abilities
But you’ll be excited to hear, Lance has agreed to go on a photo drive this coming Sunday! Woohoo! That’s a first! Hopefully I’ll find new ruins and gorgeous winter coloured landscapes to take photos of. And we’ll actually be able to stop because we won’t be in a hurry!

We saw so many veld fires (grass fires) on the road, that I had to try and capture one of them. The air was very smoky as we drove into Johannesburg again.

Hehe, and this post all about landscapes is just after my interview on Nerdmag explains how this is my least favourite type of photography
Bradley lost his first baby tooth on Saturday night, we think he must’ve swallowed it while he slept. So while we were at Ouma’s house in Parys yesterday, I tried very hard to take photos of his new gappy smile, but it was virtually impossible.

After 2 minutes Connor wanted to have photos taken too, but he just refused to take the orange segment out of his mouth (so I have two boys with toothles smiles now) and then he started prancing around like a monkey!

Then Bradley decided that he was losing out on the attention and started monkeying around too!!

I took these photos of Connor when we went to Parys in the Freestate last weekend. I was planning on putting them in my Weekly Winner’s post, but that ended up being about the Shavathon, and I just have to show you them because I think they’re cute!
We took the boys scooters with us again. They enjoy riding them on the roads, and because it’s such a quiet area it’s the perfect thing to get them out of the house for a while.
This time, Connor discovered how exciting it is walk in the canals (even though the start of autumn leaves are squidgy under your toes) and to push his scooter over the little bridges that go over the little canals on the sides of the road.
The canals are on the sides of all the roads around the town, and everyday the town reservoir that stores water from the Vaal River is opened to let water run in the canals. Different parts of the town get allocated specific days of the week when the residents can run water into their gardens from the canals. Clever hey?
