It was Jamie and Cara’s batmitzvah last night at The Venue in Melrose Arch. And as you can see from the photos, it was a nightclub themed event. The Venue was teaming with 250 of the twins’ friends and family and they all had a blast!
I’ve done photos at The Venue before for a few corporate events and a fashion show… and it was awesome to see it as a party venue… filled with loads of people having so much fun. And in the process I had a blast, playing around with flash vs no-flash to get the colours and smoke and vibe captured… telling the story in the best way I can.

The guests signed photos of the girls (portraits that were done by a family member)

After the speeches, the guests started using the stage as another dance floor

Last night was Daniel’s Barmitzvah party that was held at the Capri Hotel in Savoy. It was also my first big event for the year
Daniel’s friends and family joined him for his Japanese themed event… partly inspired by his love of origami!! I love listening to the speeches given at Barmitvahs by the kid’s friends, they always give so much information about their characters
Venue and catering: Capri Hotel
DJ and Photobooth: JK Productions

After the benching, Daniel danced a bit with his father, grandfather and the rabbis… so special!

It was Amit’s barmitzvah celebration last night, and instead of the usual dancing event, the family decided to hold it at Xtreme Ten Pin Bowling in Bramley. It was such fun, with kids everywhere having fun while playing ten pin bowling, and pool and then a few even braved the dance floor.

I joined Marcia and Dion at their home to celebrate twins, Kendra and Connor’s, second birthday party. Marcia and I have done a talent swap over the last while, and in exchange for a few photoshoots (this party being one of them), I’ve been getting some business coaching from her. I met Marcia online through blogging and I did a family photoshoot with them last year, and it was so cool seeing other people at her party that she’s met online. Most of them being moms of multiples. In fact, there were 4 sets of twins there… all 2 years old!
I just loved her theme and decor. She got all the decor items through a store on Etsy, and downloaded the designs… I think that’s uber clever!

I didn’t start out the day planning on having an iPhone only day. I had planned on going out for my birthday lunch with my DSLR, but that was cancelled because Bradley just wasn’t well enough. So he slept for the entire day, and I took Connor and his cousin Erin to a party at the fire station, and then we came home for some lunch and then my mom and dad came for tea… armed with my mom’s traditional chocolate cake. My brother and SIL, and my sister and her boyfriend also joined us for tea.
The party in the morning had such fabulous photo opportunities that I whipped out the old faithful iPhone… and then decided to just carry on using it for the day. I’m really loving this phone, I must tell you… the photography apps are just awesome! I love that even though the quality of the original photos are brilliant, that I can use apps to make the photos look old and grainy. Really cool, and so easy to use.

LOL Kimo just wanted some of my dad’s cake…

The iPhone apps I used for the processing are CrossProcess, Camera+ and Phototreats
