Rachel Rose is 3 weeks old today, and I went to her home in Kyalami to do her newborn photoshoot this morning.  Rachel’s parents, Ronel and Robert were given this photoshoot as a gift from their colleagues at work just before she was born.

Isn’t her name gorgeous?!! She’s named after her grandmothers.

Unlike other newborn photoshoots, I’m not going to blog many colour photos, as Ronel actually prefers black and white (and actually so do I for baby shoots), and hardly any of the photos in their house were in colour.

She made us work really hard this morning for these photos actually… and she refused to sleep in the end so I surrendered and she had an awake session.

I got to meet Faith this morning.  She’s the long anticipated daughter of Gina and Paul… and is the baby sister to the proudest and most helpful big brother, Aaron, ever!

If you’re not big on Twitter locally, you may recognise them from their maternity shoot that I did a few weeks ago

Aaron got a new camera from his baby sister, and spent the morning shadowing me and copying everything I did.

Remember Linky and Justin’s maternity shoot from a few months ago?  Well, their beautiful baby Tyler was born, and I went to their house in Kempton Park for his first photoshoot.  He’s such a long baby… he was 54cm at birth and weighed 3.7kg.  And OMW, he was a wriggler when he slept… but sleep he did… and we had an awesome shoot.

Cayden’s Mommy, Amy, works with an old friend and photography client of mine.  I love getting referrals like that!! Her baby Cayden was 13 days old today when I met them at their home in Eden Glen this morning. Cayden is SUCH a busy little soul and refused to sleep. In fact, when I left their house after the almost 3 hour shoot, he still wasn’t asleep!  Normally photoshoots tire the babies out completely… but not him!

Anyhoo, today’s shoot made me realise yet again why I don’t have a studio and I travel to my clients to do their baby shoots.  Not only did they have the most gorgeously textured blanket that totally brought out the colour of his blue eyes… but my heart sang when I saw what dad, Allen, wanted me to take photos of… see below!

How awesome is this setup?  Allen asked me to take photos of his bike, and when I saw where it was… he had a “man-cave” of note…. I asked him to put his kit on… and we got Cayden’s clothes off again… oh man, I’m so happy that it was a warm day! This has to be my favourite baby setup for the year!

How awesome?!

Phenyo is 3 weeks old, and her Mom, Palesa and Dad, Oshima are just so so in love with this little person.  I just loved the way that dad was looking at his little girl during the shoot.

Because Phenyo and Palesa are staying with Palesa’s mom for the first few weeks as per custom, I travelled to Soweto for their shoot today.  It was a long shoot too… Phenyo made us work really hard, but I’m happy with the results… and I hope that their friends who arrived during the shoot to meet the little girl actually managed to see some of her when I left late this afternoon :)

I have put a few of the photos on my Facebook Fan page too
