This is what the kids were doing when I got to my mom’s house this afternoon. My mom on the floor with the boys while Connor was drawing with a stencil and Bradley was reading. I think they really missed doing this often with Granny in the last few months. Lance went back to work today, so their old routine was restored.

PS you’re probably wondering what happened to yesterday’s photos, and if you’re sharp you would have noticed a gap in the 365 numbering… I haven’t gone mad, I just can’t show you the few photos I took yesterday.

I had to leave the office early today to pick the kids up, and instead of taking them to my mom‘s house after we did homework, my mom joined us at the local park for a bit of a dog walk. It was fun, and I think the walk was a fabulous idea for my mom, who has been feeling a little under the weather lately.
How cool is Connor’s new “soccer” shirt?! It was made by one of the mom’s at his school.

It’s a pity the view is so murky, but on a clear day you can see the entire Joburg skyline from that particular spot.

And thankfully, even though the municipality had cut the grass since my trip there on Monday, there were odd patches of beautiful long grasses that were just waiting for me and my camera

It was Lance’s 40th birthday yesterday, and we had such a full day that I didn’t get a chance to edit and load the photos!
We took it really easy yesterday, just as he wanted it… he’s not interested in having a party so we’re actually going away for a night this coming weekend to celebrate. We spent most of the day at my parent’s house, where we had a braai (barbeque) and my mom made her famous chocolate cake with the now traditional smarties on it… and 4 candles, one for each decade
Having a laugh are Brian, my dad, Elaine and Lance

Connor got very tired towards the end of the afternoon, and the only thing that he wanted was a granny hug and a story

It’s not often that I get my mom and Bradley to pose for a photo… and Bradley only gave me about 20 secs to get this shot before he walked off
My mom was teaching Connor how to ride this old tricycle this afternoon. He very nearly got it right, he’s still mostly pushing the pedals forwards and backwards without going anywhere… but once or twice he got the whole circular motion right. The tricycle belonged to my sister, so it’s nearly 20 years old… not bad going hey?!
