A Thank You from Lerato

Wow, when I got this in my email this morning I was… just wow!! It’s actually quite difficult for me to read compliments like this…

The email was from Lerato, and was in response to her receiving her photobook and DVD’s with photos from her maternity shoot and Kutloano’s newborn shoot.

During my pregnancy, I wanted to freeze this happiest time of my life so I decided the best thing to do would be to do a maternity shoot. After weeks and weeks of Google, and almost on the verge of giving up on my idea, I came across your website. Everything about it spoke to me, your style, your unique eye and your unbelievably reasonable prices… I just had to choose you. I told my husband about it but he just couldn’t visualize or grasp the hype I had going about this ‘Jeanette Verster Photography’.

Meeting you for the shoot cemented the fact that you were the correct choice. The maternity shoot went so well, it’s nothing remotely close to what I had imagined. It was more! The penny finally dropped for my husband, he got it! You brought out and captured every bit of excitement and emotion that we felt in our hearts. We couldn’t end it there, we just had to capture and celebrate the eventual birth of our son Kutloano. Even though we couldn’t do it in the first 10 days of birth, it still came out beautifully! Our little nunus just shone for the camera.

What we admired most during both shoots is the fact that you’re not just a person behind a lens clicking away; you have that gentle, attentive humanity that we so needed with such a delicate and private project. The cherry on top was the patience you had when we were working on the photobook (which by the way I have not been able to put down since receiving it!). Gosh, you were so patient with us during the discussions of the layout of the photobook as well… I thought you’d throw in the towel at some point.

Your attention to detail is just absolutely amazing, the packaging so sophisticated… it makes one feel special. We haven’t stopped raving about the pictures and the gorgeous photobook! You hit the nail on the head! My family would like to extend a warm heartfelt thank you for capturing this special journey in our lives AND commend you on your professionalism. We wish you well with all future projects and hope to invite you on our next project.

And as for me, I’m very picky about who touches my hair at the hairdresser or who does my nails at the nail bar… now because of you, I’m definitely picky about who will be capturing those special moments in my life. You’re just absolutely FABULOUS!!

I’m so very glad they liked everything in the end:)and I’m so so very proud of that book. I’m actually wanting to print another one for my portfolio.

And I because I can’t possibly have a post on my blog without a photo… here are two from their shoots.

I hope I do see them again, that Kutloano is one cute baby!

Oh wow – that is … WOW! What a tribute to our very talented daughter!! I was lucky enough to see the photobook before J handed it over, all so beautifully presented in a special box with ribbon – it is amazing and so special for this lovely family.
We are so very proud of you, my girl!!

Chantal’s Maternity Shoot

When Chantal contacted me a few months ago to book her maternity shoot, I was very excited when she said that they wanted an urban feel, and that her husband Andy Hadfield wanted to go to Newtown.

Awesome!! I love Newtown… and I’ve wanted to do an urban maternity shoot for ages!!  Part of the reason I love going there is the graffiti that’s continuously changing… and in fact… considering today is the World Cup 2010 Final date… I LOVED that there was actually World Cup graffiti done by Rasty on the columns!

And because she also wanted some natural scenes too… we stopped in at Emmerentia Botanical Gardens for a few photos before going home.  The best of both worlds:)   OK enough words… how about some photos…

I’m looking forward to meeting their little one:)

I’ve loaded a few more photos into an album on my Facebook Fan Page

Simply awesome girl!

Wow. First looks are really cool. Exactly what we were going for – not the traditional white background studio environment. Jozi city chic :) Excited for the next round…

Elaine - July 12, 2010 - 7:54 am

These are really awesome J! She looks beautiful against the graffiti!

Avril (Mom) (385 comments.) - July 12, 2010 - 7:17 am

Great photos but I like the park ones better … softer, not to ‘harsh’ for a forthcoming new birth .. but that’s just me!
I must give you a map of Newtown – Dad got one from the office – it’s a tourist walking map

An album for Kutloano

Remember the maternity shoot I did for Lerato a few months ago, and then Kutloano’s newborn shoot?  Well, the family decided not to take the prints as part of the bump to babe package, and instead had a book printed with photos from both photoshoots.

I was finally able to collect it today and I’m thrilled with it! It’s a 30 page (60 side) A4 landscape classic book with printed cover, and it’s in a black linen box.  As you can see, the pages open flush because of the paper/board used.  Lerato wanted the first half of the book to contain photos from her maternity shoot, and the rest of the book has the newborn photos (with some special words from mom and dad to Kutloano on some pages too).  In fact, I’m so thrilled with it, that I think I’m going to get another one printed for my portfolio.

Just to add – … and really beautifully presented!

Natalie G - July 9, 2010 - 9:06 pm

Good job, my talented photographer friend! I think photo books are so much better than prints, unless you’re specifically framing the prints.

Sharon (49 comments.) - July 9, 2010 - 9:00 pm

Wow Jeanette this is stunning!

Claire’s Maternity Shoot

Claire and Roger are expecting their first baby any day now, and I met them at my favourite ruin in the veld for a maternity photoshoot this afternoon.   They were such amazing clients and let me traipse them around the old house and around the veld for ages just so I could get THE shot.  And OMW I’m so very happy with the results:)I love the variety of shots I got today, and that they’re different to other maternity shoots I’ve done recently.

I really hope they had fun today, and I cannot wait to meet their baby in a few weeks time.

And I’ve put a few more photos (and some that are the same) on my Facebook page

zaphoto (2 comments.) - July 5, 2010 - 8:57 am

Hi Jenty, great pics, third last one is my favourite, nice mood.

I only ever did preggie pics of my wife when she was pregnant with our children. I read somewhere it is best to do these pics in stages with the seven month period the best for pics.

Anyway, my pics are stashed somewhere, on discs under the bed, I think, but here is one shot I like when my wife was pregnant with my now 18 month old girl Leila, damn time flies.

Lerato’s Maternity Photoshoot

Lerato contacted me few weeks ago via my blog to book her photoshoot so that she’d be as close to the end as possible.  And we nearly didn’t make it! She is 36 weeks pregnant at the moment, and on Tuesday, when I contacted her to finalise details, she told me that she was in hospital and they were trying to stop her contractions.  It was a serious case of deja vu for me, considering it was Connor’s 3rd birthday that day, and I’d been in that position on the same day 3 years before also at the same stage in my pregnancy!

Thankfully, in her case, the contractions stopped and she’s at home now… and we could do a maternity shoot for her.  And I’m glad we could, because she is such a beautiful pregnant woman! And what a lovely couple!! I met up with her and Tsepo at their house in Ridgeway this morning for their shoot.

We started the shoot outside wandering around the complex, and then went inside for a studio shoot with my travelling studio kit.  She is so excited about this baby, and everytime I asked her to be serious and think about the baby, she would get this massive grin on her face! We ended the shoot with photos of the couple in their soccer t-shirts because they’re quite proud that he’s going to be born in the year of the Soccer World Cup!

Truly fantastic Jeanette!! what a precious couple!!

Avril (Mom) (385 comments.) - February 22, 2010 - 7:53 am

Lovely photos! Truly blessed baby to have parents like those!

Girish (77 comments.) - February 22, 2010 - 6:18 am

Cool photos. I think a serious look on such a nice fun lady might have spoiled the photos a little.

Oh nice layout, visited the new layout today. Keep it up.

If it’s okay, can you share what your traveling kit has :) reflectors, strobe, diffuser. :) Thanks if advance
