Ashley and Sally contacted me a few months ago to take the photos on their special day.  They were referred to me by Tanya, whose wedding photos I took in October, as well as my brother! I love referrals :) Their wedding took place yesterday on a very hot and muggy day… the weather was absolutely gorgeous… but oh so very hot when you’re wearing layers of petticoats and tulle and a kilt!

And speaking of kilts… all the guys in the retinue not only had kilts but the full Scottish kit down to the shoes!! Even the 2 little page boys :)

The venues that they chose for getting ready, and for the ceremony and reception were both incredible.  Thatch and Thorn was lovely, and I LOVED the light in the suite that we used. Da Vincenzo’s was just amazing.  The staff were so attentive and they kept me informed of everything going on, and treated the bridal couple like gold.  The food was absolutely delicious, and I’m definitely going back there for a dinner with friends!

LOVED the guest house’s dog who took a liking to Sally, and followed her everywhere.  And I couldn’t resist taking a photo of him

Michael was fascinated by the bottle of holy water :)

How amazing is this table setting design?!! The cards with the table settings were strung from branches with crystal angels.

And then during the reception, I spotted this building next door, and how cool are they?! They left their guests during dinner for 5 minutes to take a few more photos in this amazing setting… it was so very worth it!

Oh and I do LOVE this image… it’s the only real maternity one I’m showing you… you see, Sally is 4 months pregnant :)

And I have to give a shout-out to Glenn, who declared himself the photography assistant for the day, and was a pack horse of note! And yes, he was one of the guests… and WOW I wouldn’t mind him coming along to any of my photoshoots.  I’ll definitely be phoning him if/when I do a wedding in KZN. He not only helped me with my bags, but fetched sheets for Sally to sit on, and made sure they had drinks and helped Sally with her dress. He was wonderful!

Getting Ready Location: Thatch and Thorn Guest House in Beaulieu
Ceremony and Reception Venue : Da Vincenzo Restaurant
DJ : Paul Tavares
Second Shooter: Carl de Montille

And that, my friends, is the last wedding for 2011 :) it’s been an amazing year!

I met Tanya and Peter yesterday afternoon at her stables in Kyalami yesterday to do the final shoot planned for their wedding.  It was a Day-After or Trash the Dress shoot and Peter and Tanya got dressed up for the occasion again.  Tanya was so very excited about this shoot with her favourite pony Twister.  She’s been talking about it for months :)

It was such an amazing setting in the fields, with Twister being followed by all the other horses… and OMW I was so impressed with her… she was amazing and so calm all the time, even though Tanya was making quite a lot of russling noises in her dress

Angel of AngelsMind, Angels Weddings and Angels Cupcakes fame organised an awesome photographic outing for yesterday… a Trash the Dress photoshoot at the Glen Austin stables… 3 brides… 6 photographers… 3 horses and LOADS of fun!  With a table in the middle of the paddock by Vanessa from Kelro… oh and cupcakes of course :)

It’s a bumper post ;)
This is Alida on Feiko

I laughed when I edited this one… not the most flattering photos of Teddy, but too funny for words, so I couldn’t resist posting it.  You may also recognise Charmain… she’s actually still on her honeymoon after her wedding a few weeks ago.

And Annie with Fury

Thanks to Angel for all the arranging… and to Meryl for letting us invade her quiet stable yard for the day.

The other photographers are linked on Angel’s post on her Wedding blog

And if you haven’t seen enough of mine… have a gander over to my Facebook Page and see more there :)

I joined a group of photographers and a few brides for a Trash the Dress shoot yesterday at the Glen Austin Stables.  Those TTD photos to follow tomorrow.

I can’t resist however, putting up an entire post with photos of Feiko.  He’s Meryl’s 22 year old horse.  Isn’t he a beauty?!  He was absolutely incredible yesterday.  The dresses freaked him out in the beginning, but Alida managed to get him used to her dress… and he performed like a champ.  Afterwards, Meryl let him go for a bit of a run in a paddock and we got to see just how magnificent he was.

There was also something more in the photos once they were converted to Black and White… it somehow enhanced him more.

What a beauty!

The kids and I were invited to a party on Sunday morning at Farmyard Frendz close to Northgate.  Another photographer did the main photos for the party, so I just had some fun with the camera and took photos of my kids and the animals.  We’ve never been to a party there, and I was quite impressed with the venue, and we all had a great time, although I think the venue would be chaos on a Saturday if there were 3 parties going at the same time.

These cupcakes were the the main reason I actually got my camera out of my bag.  They were STUNNING!! They were made by Magnolia Cakes (I’ve taken photos of her cakes at other parties) and this was the first time I’ve seen a cupcake tower from her.  I just had to take photos of them to show Angel (who is a cupcake fundi of note).

It was so nice to see Bradley enjoying his horse ride, but it always makes me slightly sad that he stopped riding… he used to be so good at it.

And this place had emus! Which is more than a little strange to see in this country, so of course I had to take some photos of them.
