I’m just finishing off the editing of Jamie and Benjamin’s photoshoot from a few weeks ago, and I spotted this one.  1 year old Benjamin was taking a bit of a break…

Don’t you just love those little toes that are peeping from under his jeans?

When Jamie met me at the door late this afternoon, his first words to me were “I’m big now, I’m four already” LOL, and what a cute 4 year old he is!! It’s so awesome to go back to clients homes to take more photos and to see how the kids are growing.

I first took photos of Jamie and Benjamin just after Ben was born last year, and went to their house again when he was 6 months old.  Ben is now a one year old little boy… and walking and running around the garden.  What a little character!

I’m taking photos at a wedding tomorrow, and because the weather is so terrible today and I noticed that the light in the hotel is not great I decided that I needed to get new OCF triggers just in case.  For those who are wondering OCF stands for “Off Camera Flash” and it’s a method of using external flashes placed on light stands around the room… i.e. without using flashes attached to your camera body.

Anyhoo, I’ve been using OCF for quite some time but because my triggers have been so unreliable, I try my utmost not to use them at events where I’m under time pressure.  But with this low light issue tomorrow, I needed to get proper stuff.  So I did some research and decided to go to Camerastuff today (they have an AWESOME new shop in Craighall Park) to get the Phottix Aster trigger set.  And I’m impressed.

I’ve always had an issue with other triggers because they’re finicky to get to work, but these were a dream!! Awesome!  I’m quite looking forward to using them tomorrow.

In this photo I had 2 flashes on at 1/64 at 45deg and I was moving around Bradley.  In  this shot I was actually standing in front of the one flash.  He was checking them out to see whether they were flashing, and how fast I could push them :) I was well impressed.

And yes, they’re not Pocket Wizards :) but I can’t get them at such short notice, and I looked at the Phottix Atlas but decided that they’re too bulky for now and I would’ve needed 3 of them.

It feels like this rain we’re having is never going to stop, and I’m really hoping it’s going to be kind to me this weekend for my photoshoots!

I took a long time deciding whether to post these photos in colour or Black and White, but I think the simplicity of monotone just brings out mood so much.
