215/365 – from my garden

My garden is looking really sad right now, and I got downright depressed walking around it this evening looking for things to photograph.  The huskies have destroyed it… do you know that they’ve even eaten and destroyed my cactus plants?!

I did manage to find one or two things that looked ok though…

Our dog also destroyed our garden when he was still very young. He’s now almost three years old and has finally calmed down, though he still likes to dig holes in the lawn. I really like the second shot, I feel like I can stare at it for hours.

Flowers again - August 10, 2010 - 10:46 pm

[...] There is something special about taking photos of flowers. I’m not quite sure what it is, but I love doing it. I love the colours, the detail, the life in them. It seems Jeanette and I had similar ideas today [...]

The Meyersfeld family at home

You might recognise Jamie from photos I took earlier on in the year, but you definitely won’t recognise Benjamin! The last time I took photos of the family was when  Benjamin was a few weeks old… and look how cute he is now!

Jacqui contacted me a few weeks ago, and asked me to come to their new home to take some natural photos of the family.  Their house was perfect for the shoot and included the most divine garden so perfect for kids with all sorts of secret pathways and hideyholes… the boys are going to have a ball growing up in the house!  In fact, I’ve now got so many ideas for my garden… and I LOVED that she actually had some flowers blooming in this freezing weather!

He was so very proud of the scrapbooks that his mom had put together. Every trip the family have been on, are documented in scrapbooks.

Benjamin was so very chatty and smiley:)

I took this photo just so that they could compare to a similar photo taken at Benjamin’s newborn shoot.

167/365 – the boys at play

I’ve got a weekend off this weekend with no photoshoots, so I took photos of the kids playing at home instead. The new swords and knife play sets were bought yesterday as a result of good behaviour.

We’ve been using star charts recently. They’ve been working like a charm, and yesterday’s toys were as a result of Connor finally pooing in the toilet for 2 weeks consecutively, and Bradley getting to bed on time and helping around the house!

I was actually surprised that they chose such cheap toys… R40 each!! And I’d promised Connor almost the world if he poo’ed (a Bruder digger costing R400 and Toy Story lego set costing R300) and he rejected them all in the end for the cheap option. That made me even more happy!! And look how they both enjoyed playing with them too!

Well done Connor… :)

This reminded me so much of Kevin and Liam when they were small. The swords stuck in the back of the tops… bashing down things. :)

Denise (6 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 10:23 pm

Proof you don’t need expensive toys to have a total blast… the looks on their faces. They’re so intense into their play. I remember those days… LOVE the shot of the ring. VERY cool catch.

JessicaGiggles (13 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 8:53 pm

I absolutely love these pics! And it’s great that the most fun is usually had with the cheapest items!

Sarah (9 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 8:07 pm

I have daughters so the toys are totally different but I love their fierce faces as they play with their new toys! Looks like they’re having fun!

Sarah (1 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 6:48 pm

The fierce faces are TOO cute!!
I’ve seen those toys at Toys R Us here, and have considered them for my son!

What fun photos! Mine have that sword & shield set too

Secret Agent Mama - Mishelle Lane (86 comments.) - June 20, 2010 - 3:23 pm

I’ve tried to bribe David and he still won’t toilet train. I must have the most stubborn kid in the world. Takes after his mother, I guess. ;)

What’s the R equivalent to in dollars?

Looks like the boys had quite a tournament. Conner’s ‘game face’ is very intimidating.

67/365 – I heart autumn

My silver birch trees are always the first to change into their autumn colours, and it was the first time I’ve noticed the shape of the leaves!  My next lens HAS to be a macro lens so I can do them proper justice, but the 50mm f1.8 did it’s magic this evening;)

So beautiful! I can’t wait to find a reason to get a macro lens myself. =)

Janet B (55 comments.) - March 10, 2010 - 1:12 pm

I’m afraid summer is on its way out! Love the leaf!

Anelle (47 comments.) - March 9, 2010 - 9:55 pm

How pretty! I just thought that I needed to get a macro lens to capture the first leaf buds on the trees for spring!

desi (85 comments.) - March 9, 2010 - 9:02 pm

that’s so pretty jeanette

you’ll really love the 100mm 2.8

36/365 – Break free

Nothing too interesting today, I left my camera at home when I took Bradley to a party.  I did, in fact, do that on purpose so that I got a bit of a break between yesterday’s wedding, and the 2 shoots I’m doing tomorrow.

This morning however, Connor saved a butterfly from the pool with his butterfly net that he got for Christmas. Once the wings dried, the butterfly flew away:).  How could I not take a photo of that?!

And then of course, Bradley had to get in on the action, so he got his own net and proceeded to catch a few butterflies that were hanging around the lavender bushes.
