I took my camera to Camera Tek today for a bit of a cleaning… so this afternoon I tested the macro lens out again in my garden just to make sure the images were perfectly clean. And thankfully they are :)

Then I spotted an old rose which the dogs for some reason had decided wasn’t good enough to destroy…

Oh I love this 100mm f2.8 Macro lens :)

So I got a new toy this morning, and then played with it as soon as I got home.  I’ve been eyeing out the 100mm f2.8L Macro for quite some time, and with the 2 weddings coming up this weekend I decided that I needed it actually for the detail photos :)

I went to my favourite local camera shop this morning, Digital Experience, to get it after uhming and aahing for weeks… and thankfully they had one left in stock!! These good L lenses are becoming quite scarce now, because of the Japan issue, so I decided that today was the day… knowing that they’ll be completely unobtainable soon… well, apparently for the next 6 months anyway.

Oh and I had so much fun with it! I used to love using the Macro function on my point and shoot when I started my first 365 project, and it’s one thing that you just cannot get properly right with a DSLR without a proper Macro lens.

One of my favourite blogs is the photography channel on the Pioneer Woman blog, and she often runs photo assignments.  Her latest one is all about flowers, and after looking at some of the photos she’s put on her site, I felt the need to join in too.

This tiny daisy (it’s about the size of a 1c coin) is a type of Erigeron, and is also known as Fleabane… the proper name is such a prettier name than the common name actually.

For some reason, I haven’t been able to successfully grow these, but my mom is going to give me cuttings from the many plants in her garden… and I’m going to try again.

This is my favourite of all the beautiful plants in my mom’s garden. The flame lilies only flower once a year around Christmas and only if the rain is right and the roots are not disturbed at all… they’re very picky flowers. And this year they’re beautiful… there are only 3 blooms at the moment but it looks like more are coming.

I have a hectic weekend ahead with 4 photoshoots, so I’m leaving you with just one photo today… taken this evening after the boys picked me a few flowers from my garden
