196/365 – A Venus Protea

I bought 3 beautiful Venus protea flowers from Woolies today… just so I could get my photo for the day:)  I adore proteas!! Not least because they last for weeks in vases!!

In fact, I could see these 3 photos printed in canvas and mounted on my wall… I really like all the deconstructed shapes

Ooh, I could absolutely see those as a triptych canvas!

193/365 – Images from the Park

Park photos again… this time I was very excited to find a sign of spring!! The protea tree I was taking a photo of, had new purple leaves:)

And it was such a beautiful sight to see, especially after walking in the icy icy icy cold weather!

I love looking at your pics, and feeling like I’m almost there with you. I wish I was…I’d love to take pictures right along with you. It would be so fun.

185/365 – Images from the Park

I took the kids and dogs for a walk in the park again this evening, and decided to capture stuff other than the dogs (which are getting a little boring).  It sure was a challenge though, and most were taken with both dogs on lead in one hand and camera in the other (there were new dogs in the park that I wasn’t sure about so our huskies didn’t get to run free very much tonight)… and the rest taken while carrying Connor as he was exhausted after a day of playing at a friends house.

When I first saw the barbed wire I thought it was a flower or a weed, awesome shot!

Jeanette (27 comments.) - July 8, 2010 - 11:08 am

@Emma… thanks :) I hardly use PS anymore, these were all done in Lightroom. All these were edited (apart from the last one which is virtually SOOC) using a Green Vintage preset from Christine Meintjies

Holy-Moly Jeanette (I could use other words, but I would rather not) these are gorgeous! Love the 3rd picture and the sunset!

Firefly (273 comments.) - July 8, 2010 - 9:21 am

You have such an fantastic eye for detail.

Avril (Mom) (385 comments.) - July 8, 2010 - 9:08 am

Oh my – that sunset IS gorgeous!!
All photos are lovely .. I remember Granny used to pick those dead proteas (from that same park!) and always do flower arrangements in our house – then I had to keep them for Christmas arrangements :) !!

Emma (1 comments.) - July 8, 2010 - 7:15 am

I Love the colouration of the detail shots, specifically the contrast in the Protea (I think) shot-did you do it is Ps or is it an action?!

…And I agree with Michelle on the sunset – beautiful!

… While the puppies look very cute – they must be hard work!

Girish (77 comments.) - July 8, 2010 - 7:06 am

Cool shots. The dogs have grown up nicely. :)

Lovely close up of the swing / see-saw.

179/365 – Playing around in Aperture

I’m still one day behind with my posts!! I took this photo yesterday in my mom’s garden… and added a vintage touch to it tonight while I was playing around in Aperture 3… I still had to export to Photoshop though so that I could add my watermark… but anyhoo, it’s quite nice software

It really does look vintage.

174/365 – it’s my birthday

I’ve had a good birthday today.  Quiet… but good.

The stuff list on my other blog was just the trick, and I got a whole host of things from the list:)Because I didn’t get up to much apart from shopping and kids stuff and having dinner at my parents’ house, I thought I’d make today’s blog post with photos taken everywhere I went (apart from the shops)

My birthday actually started last night, when Madelein and her clan came over and we ordered take-away pizza from Colcacchios… that has to be the BEST take-away pizza we’ve ever had… and we managed to order wheat free pizza too!

I got so many compliments today about this perfume… even Connor told me that I smelt really nice:)

I finally, finally have something from Le Creussett

Oh and I just love these tulips that I got from my mom yesterday… and I just discovered the macro function on my new lens!!

I went to the opening of Tranquil Body Therapy at their market stall in Lifestyle Garden Centre… definitely buying stuff when I go there again tomorrow as I’ve discovered that Leigh-Ann’s (she owns it) kids creams are made without sulphur and sulphates!!   And the mens range looks quite good too.

Then it was dog walking time in the most beautiful golden light

And finally my mom’s famous chocolate cake…
