OK, the heading sounds a little twee… but I took some awesome photos of Connor today, and I wanted to blog about the SA Blog Awards that are now open for voting!!
So… yes… I’ve registered again, and this year from the travelling around the blogs I’ve been doing, the competition in the Photographic category is a little hectic… so I need your votes to get me to the next round
Please note, that if you vote for a blog in a specific category, and you vote again for another blog, your first vote gets overwritten… so vote once per category.
Now for Connor… he loves finding fairy flowers that fly across the garden at this time of year. And you have to make a wish when you find a fairy flower

Oh I love irises, and the fact that my huskies have destroyed every single one of mine makes me quite sad. But my mom’s irises look spectacular as always. This photo taken in her garden late this afternoon using a 50mm f1.4

I just love flower buds, especially the perfectly formed tulip buds. When I spotted this bunch at Woolies yesterday when I stopped there to get a few groceries, I had to add them to my trolley. Oh and I also had to get out my macro lens and use my kitchen table again for some photos.
Again, like the proteas last week, this was done without flash, just with the kitchen light.

I got home after dark again, and unlike recent week where I’ve just left the camera, I decided to use my kitchen light and macro lens (Canon 100mm f2.8) and take some non-flash photos of the bunch of proteas that I bought myself for my birthday. You may find it odd that I do things like this in the evening… but it’s seriously good practice for weddings with low light and little time with detail photos… it allows me to play and make sure I know how to get the best out of my equipment.

This one is not a macro… but I do love the reflections I get on my granite kitchen counter

I took my camera to Camera Tek today for a bit of a cleaning… so this afternoon I tested the macro lens out again in my garden just to make sure the images were perfectly clean. And thankfully they are

Then I spotted an old rose which the dogs for some reason had decided wasn’t good enough to destroy…

Oh I love this 100mm f2.8 Macro lens
