215/365 – from my garden

My garden is looking really sad right now, and I got downright depressed walking around it this evening looking for things to photograph.  The huskies have destroyed it… do you know that they’ve even eaten and destroyed my cactus plants?!

I did manage to find one or two things that looked ok though…

Lovely shots .. I ended up in the flowers section of photography as well today. Not a bad place to be :)

Our dog also destroyed our garden when he was still very young. He’s now almost three years old and has finally calmed down, though he still likes to dig holes in the lawn. I really like the second shot, I feel like I can stare at it for hours.

Flowers again - August 10, 2010 - 10:46 pm

[...] There is something special about taking photos of flowers. I’m not quite sure what it is, but I love doing it. I love the colours, the detail, the life in them. It seems Jeanette and I had similar ideas today [...]

196/365 – A Venus Protea

I bought 3 beautiful Venus protea flowers from Woolies today… just so I could get my photo for the day:)  I adore proteas!! Not least because they last for weeks in vases!!

In fact, I could see these 3 photos printed in canvas and mounted on my wall… I really like all the deconstructed shapes

Ooh, I could absolutely see those as a triptych canvas!

132/365 – Tulips flashed

Flowers again!! I know… it’s getting a little boring hey?  I’m actually thinking that maybe I should stop my 365 challenge, call it quits.

Anyhoo, I got home late-ish again, so I bought some tulips just to take a photo of them:)and of course, because they brighten up my house;).  This time I did the unthinkable, I used my flash… which is very unusual for me.  So for those interested, I added some moodiness in Lightroom… and now I like it!

I got a lot of questions about the photo I posted yesterday with the pinky texture, and in fact, I get the same questions every time I post a texture shot… would anyone like me to explain how I did it… I can post the steps tomorrow as a blog post.  It was done with a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop.

I’m late to the take, but yes please, I’d like you to do a blog post on how to. Also, I don’t think flowers are boring. I think they make great artsy shots.

cat@juggling act (222 comments.) - May 14, 2010 - 11:23 am

Please do Jenty – I’d love to learn how to. I love the tulips though. Beautiful. I am also finding the 365 a challenge in the winter light conditions, but I have started putting them together in a photobook and that has really inspired me again. Like a snapshot of my life week by week.

131/365 – A spot of pink

Now that winter is almost in full swing in Jo’burg and the veld is brown and the leaves are falling… what better pick-me-up than a spot of pink!

I took these photos of the gaura, that are still vaguely flowering, in my garden this evening.

PS.. hope you missed me yesterday… I did actually take photos, so I didn’t cheat on my 365, but they’re of a work function so I can’t blog about them.
