216/365 – lunch at Green Peppercorn

It was my sister’s birthday today and I met her at The Green Peppercorn restaurant in Morningside for lunch… and what a lunch it was!! What an awesome spot!

Elaine had the sweet potato spring rolls with butternut and spinach and pinenuts… and I had the chocolate and chilli ostrich with cherries on potato rosti.  It was so very yummy! Ooh and they had decent wine by the glass so I couldn’t resist that either!

72/365 – Lance’s 40th birthday

It was Lance’s 40th birthday yesterday, and we had such a full day that I didn’t get a chance to edit and load the photos!

We took it really easy yesterday, just as he wanted it… he’s not interested in having a party so we’re actually going away for a night this coming weekend to celebrate. We spent most of the day at my parent’s house, where we had a braai (barbeque) and my mom made her famous chocolate cake with the now traditional smarties on it… and 4 candles, one for each decade:)

Having a laugh are Brian, my dad, Elaine and Lance

Connor got very tired towards the end of the afternoon, and the only thing that he wanted was a granny hug and a story:)

70/365 – Green and Blue

I got to my parent’s house this evening to pick up the boys, and Elaine’s friend Robyn was visiting… so they were the unlucky guinea pigs today:)

27/365 – New baby in the family

My sister bought her first car, and took delivery yesterday of the most gorgeous gun metal gray Mini!

To say that she’s excited about this car is the understatement of the century.  This was a huge decision for her, and she’s bought her dream:)Hope she has many happy miles in it.

Elaine awarded her honours Cum Laude

I was hugely privileged to witness my sister Elaine, graduate this evening.  My parents are in Ireland at the moment, so I got to see her graduate (she only got 3 tickets to the graduation ceremony)… and have some fun taking photos of her and her friends.

She was awarded her Honours at UJ in Marketing Management with Cum Laude!!  (i.e. she’s very clever;))  There were only 3 other people in her class that graduated with Cum Laude.

Very happy Elaine

Elaine and Bryan

And some photos with friends… Natalie went to Sweden with Elaine for an exchange program during their degree.

Elaine and friends

It was a fat reunion of friends, as they finished last year, and have hardly seen each other this year.  The graduation ceremony was late in the year, as they had to complete a 6 month working practical to complete their honours.

Getting excited

Their professor, also joined in with the posing for photos!

And finally, the reason we were all there…

There was HUGE applause from the audience for the guys graduating Cum Laude, and (I missed the shot) the chancellor stood to shake her hand and congratulate her.

Getting capped by the Chancellor – note the big smile on her professor’s face

Getting her honours degree

We’re all very proud of you Lainey, and I know Mom, Dad and Carl would have loved to have been there too!
