My dad turned 60 today

It was my dad’s 60th birthday today and the family and some friends joined him at my parent’s home for an afternoon of food and fun to celebrate.  So, actually, this was my 67 minutes… because the family hardly ever gets together like this.  I’ll do a charitable 67 minutes another day;)

My brother Carl (of the medical poetry fame) taking his nut very seriously:)

Terry who is visiting from Columbia at the moment

Bacon wrapped cherries braaiing on my dad’s new Weber

… and my dad’s cousin Dave and his wife (who live in Zimbabwe)

This was too funny, she would shut her eyes every time the ball came close to her

Because Terry was around, my mom had to make her famous chocolate eclairs for dessert:)

Connor was the “Bafama Bafama” goalie for the day

Connor was trying to work out the numbers, and eventually decided that dad was 16!! He was delighted:)

It was an awesome day with my family:)

Happy 60th Birthday Dad!

Great pictures. It sure looks like a fun time was had by all.

72/365 – Lance’s 40th birthday

It was Lance’s 40th birthday yesterday, and we had such a full day that I didn’t get a chance to edit and load the photos!

We took it really easy yesterday, just as he wanted it… he’s not interested in having a party so we’re actually going away for a night this coming weekend to celebrate. We spent most of the day at my parent’s house, where we had a braai (barbeque) and my mom made her famous chocolate cake with the now traditional smarties on it… and 4 candles, one for each decade:)

Having a laugh are Brian, my dad, Elaine and Lance

Connor got very tired towards the end of the afternoon, and the only thing that he wanted was a granny hug and a story:)

Flip, those are amazing pics. x

Cheers

On the way home from work two weeks ago, my dad heard that 2 of the Kanonkop wines won had international awards for the best Cabernet Sauvignon and best Burgundy.  He bought a bottle of each of the wines in question at the bottle store… along with throngs of other people who’d also heard the same news bulletin.  In fact, he got almost the last bottles – the guy standing behind him took the rest of what was on the shelf!

We opened the one bottle yesterday for our Christmas lunch, and OMW it was just too yummy for words!  I just love this photo I took of my dad and his glass of wine.

cheers

Love it Jeanette!

Bradley’s developing a love for Photography

He took these yesterday after I took the photos of Elaine.  He’s developing quite a good eye… these were all taken with my 50mm lens. Not bad for a 5 year old hey?!

He was quite funny afterwards when I was looking at the photos he’d taken and I’d commented on how good they were: “It’s easy Mommy, all you have to do is stand veeeery still and click… and then your photos will be perfect… like mine!”

Granny and Papa – I just have to coach him with people shots a bit.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the US peeps that read my blog.

Picking flowers for Papa

Connor is loving all the flowers in my mom’s garden at the moment, and this evening he was picking all sorts of flowers for my dad to smell.  And Connor’s t-shirt is perfect for Ruby Tuesday!

And don’t you just love the soft effect?  I was playing around with free Photoshop actions that I got from the Coffeeshop Photography blog.  I used the Creamy Toffee Latte action – I just love the names!
