239/365 – the smell of spring

I love the smells of spring, and my mom‘s garden has just got so many beautiful flowers blooming at the moment.  When I got there this evening, the kids went to pick some sweet peas… and then a daisy and then some jasmine and then a banksia rose:)and then I had to stop them;)
I really need to sort my garden out and get more flowers!

236/365 – Canvas

One of my clients asked me to print 3 20×20 canvases using photos I’d taken of her family, so I used the opportunity to also print a canvas for my house!! It’s about time I printed my own photos:)  I used a photo that took of Connor at the beginning of 2009, and had a 50cm by 60cm canvas printed and stretched. The photo doesn’t actually do the size of the canvas justice, but it’s rather large.

He loves that the canvas is on the wall and it’s so big:)and mentioned it every time he walked down or up the stairs over the weekend.  LOL! I want to get another 3 done in the same size to make a feature wall… it’s a LARGE wall with a double volume ceiling so there’s more than enough space.

he must be so pleased that “his” canvas is up!!
our canvasses with the photos you took of us are one (or rather 3) of my favourite things in my house!!

234/365 – An outing to Montecasino Bird Park

Bradley and Lance went to the movies, so I decided that Connor needed a special one on one treat too.  We decided to go to the Bird Park at Montecasino. The last time I took him there was when he was very very little, and in a pram and in nappies… and he doesn’t remember the place.  It was time! I knew he’d enjoy the Flight of Fantasy show now, and he’s old enough to sit through it.  And I was right… we had a ball together.  In fact, I think we need to do this more often… he never gets to do something special on his own.

We went into the lorikeet aviary first with a dish of nectar, hoping to feed them.  Here I have a problem… very exciting for Connor… yet idiotic to sell me a tub of syrupy stuff in the afternoon when the birds have clearly had their fill! Anyhoo, he enjoyed trying anyway.

And then it was 3pm and time for the show in the amphitheatre.

I just loved the Eagle Owl:)  And I LOVE the photos I managed to get this time… what a difference a proper lens makes… and 3 years more photo experience;).  I used the 70-200mm f2.8 for the whole show.

This cape vulture is a rescued bird, and was a victim of poisoning.

And see this massive burmese python?  Well, the handler let Connor and I touch it.  Connor touched it so very quickly that I didn’t even manage to get a photo:)

and what’s an outing without ice cream?:)

225/365 – Cupcakes for Connor

Angel, The Cupcake Lady, is experimenting with new cupcake recipes at the moment, and I happened to spot her tweet yesterday about the red velvet cupcakes that were available… and I had to order some.

I bought them from to share with Madelein, who came for dinner with the kids tonight because our men went to the movies to watch A-Team!
Red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing… and wine… what could be better:)

They were really yummy! I don’t think the icing was sweet enough for Connor though, because he didn’t want much more after the photos… but they were PERFECT for me!

Fiona - August 23, 2010 - 3:55 pm

That looks so yummy
