It was Samuel’s 5th birthday party at the Jabula Recreation Centre in Sandringham today and I was there to take the photos
Pirate themed parties are always so much fun for boys. It was a little boy’s dream party with the most enormous pirate ship jumping castle, a magic show (by Uncle Dum Dum who is actually Samuel’s dad), a face painter… and my best thing ever… a candy floss machine (I want that at my next party)

Love this photo because by his next birthday, Samuel will have siblings and the family will be a lot bigger

Love the way Samuel is looking at his dad

The face painter was VERY busy today… not surprisingly because her artworks were beautiful!

This jumping castle was a hit. While I was there, I was listening to the boys playing pirate on the ship… with Samuel being the captain
was too sweet to listen to. And some of the adults had a go on the slide too!

Yes, yet another personal blog post on my photography blog
Both my planned shoots were postponed so I spent the weekend with my family, and actually it worked out pretty well considering I needed to plan for Bradley’s party on Sunday morning. And yes, his party was on Mother’s Day… not the best planning on my part, but I phoned to book the party in March and this was the closest day to his actual birthday that Sci-Bono had available.
His party was held at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Newtown, Johannesburg. And the kids all had a ball! We hardly saw the kids, and the time flew! Part of the party includes a tour through the venue, and a science show, and from the looks on their faces I know that the parents that joined us enjoyed the time as much as the kids did

This part of the tour was most fascinating. It was a mind game that used brain waves to move a ball. The more you relaxed the more the ball moved… and that’s how you won the game. Bradley was an ace at this!! And it was so funny watching him play against his friend Aiden, they controlled their minds in the most amazing way. I, on the other hand, was most useless at this game as you can imagine, and Bradley won so very quickly in that match!

Then it was time for a science show…

This was so funny!! Bradley held a bottle of Coke lite, and Angelique poured some chemical in it, supposedly to make Fanta Orange… well… instead it squirted all over them!

… and then it was time for the gorgeous smiley cake made by my mom… before the kids played some more in the centre and then we all went home.

Just a note on planning this party… not only did I get cancellations because of Mothers Day, but there were also people who felt that it was too scary to drive into town so declined the invite. Thanks to the parents, who despite their misgivings actually came… and realised how amazing the place actually was and how good the parking was and how safe it actually was.
And in closing I just have to add… that every single person that came said they were going to go back and spend more time there. That’s how awesome the place is!
This construction themed birthday party today was awesome! Juan is 2 years old, and family and friends joined him at their home north of Johannesburg today to celebrate his birthday.
Juan’s very clever mom, Celeste, made all the decor and the cake!! They set up various “stations” around the garden filled with things to keep the kids occupied and they had a ball!

I’ve put a few more photos in a Facebook album too. If you were a guest at the party, you’ll be able to tag yourself there if you “like” the page.
My baby turned 5 years old today… I can’t believe he’s so big already! I was going to do a “5″ themed photoshoot with him, but there really wasn’t enough time today, and instead I just took “real” photos of him on his special day.
After work, I went to my parent’s house, where my mom had made the most gorgeous chocolate cake all about being 5
I think it’s just too clever!! We stayed for some tea and he got to open presents before we went home again… and thankfully the rain stopped so that he could ride his new scooter.
Any present with wheels is a win for boys!!

Happy birthday my baby boy
Connor’s 5th birthday is this week, and to celebrate we held his party at home on Saturday. The theme was Star Wars, and it was a swimming party. Thankfully the weather played along (it was downright miserable yesterday morning) and the sun shone beautifully for the kids to enjoy the water slide and swimming pool

2 of their friends arrived without swimming cozzies, so we set up the Xbox with Skylanders for them to play with
I was so very impressed with the huskies. Kitara let Faith and Aaron pet her, and lean on her…

There are also a few more photos in a Facebook album…
Cameras used: Some from my iPhone, and the rest with the 50D with 24-70mm lens. My new camera arrives tomorrow
Happy days!!
