My dad turned 60 today

It was my dad’s 60th birthday today and the family and some friends joined him at my parent’s home for an afternoon of food and fun to celebrate.  So, actually, this was my 67 minutes… because the family hardly ever gets together like this.  I’ll do a charitable 67 minutes another day;)

My brother Carl (of the medical poetry fame) taking his nut very seriously:)

Terry who is visiting from Columbia at the moment

Bacon wrapped cherries braaiing on my dad’s new Weber

… and my dad’s cousin Dave and his wife (who live in Zimbabwe)

This was too funny, she would shut her eyes every time the ball came close to her

Because Terry was around, my mom had to make her famous chocolate eclairs for dessert:)

Connor was the “Bafama Bafama” goalie for the day

Connor was trying to work out the numbers, and eventually decided that dad was 16!! He was delighted:)

It was an awesome day with my family:)

Happy 60th Birthday Dad!

Great pictures. It sure looks like a fun time was had by all.

174/365 – it’s my birthday

I’ve had a good birthday today.  Quiet… but good.

The stuff list on my other blog was just the trick, and I got a whole host of things from the list:)Because I didn’t get up to much apart from shopping and kids stuff and having dinner at my parents’ house, I thought I’d make today’s blog post with photos taken everywhere I went (apart from the shops)

My birthday actually started last night, when Madelein and her clan came over and we ordered take-away pizza from Colcacchios… that has to be the BEST take-away pizza we’ve ever had… and we managed to order wheat free pizza too!

I got so many compliments today about this perfume… even Connor told me that I smelt really nice:)

I finally, finally have something from Le Creussett

Oh and I just love these tulips that I got from my mom yesterday… and I just discovered the macro function on my new lens!!

I went to the opening of Tranquil Body Therapy at their market stall in Lifestyle Garden Centre… definitely buying stuff when I go there again tomorrow as I’ve discovered that Leigh-Ann’s (she owns it) kids creams are made without sulphur and sulphates!!   And the mens range looks quite good too.

Then it was dog walking time in the most beautiful golden light

And finally my mom’s famous chocolate cake…

Looks like a wonderful birthday was had!

Wenchy turns 14 again

Wenchy celebrates her birthday in style every year.  I don’t know any other adult that has a birthday party every year, and this year it was held at the Spur… that’s right… the Spur! The theme was soccer, and there were balloons and party packs and there was even a candle to blow out too!

I didn’t take very many photos, but I do have a few…

The lady herself…

… and Sir Noid making a speech

… and blowing out the candle

… Wenchy’s son Liam as the resident photographer

… and the cutest kid there… Abigail… drinking a beer and then eating a lemon.

… ooh and not to forget her big blue eyed sister Logan…

… and my favourite moment that I spotted…  don’t you love her multi-coloured nails?:)

lastly, the party boxes for the adults that contained a soccer inspired Angel cupcake

I think I should have a party for my birthday in 2 weeks time too!!

Fiona - June 14, 2010 - 3:16 pm

That looks like fun!!! I think everyone should always celebrate their birthdays. It’s one day of the year thats all yours :)

cat@juggling act (218 comments.) - June 14, 2010 - 12:01 pm

Great to see she had fun. Celebrate, that’s what I say.

Gilz (177 comments.) - June 14, 2010 - 9:54 am

Stunning party…loved the theme.

Paul Jacobson (2 comments.) - June 14, 2010 - 9:45 am

I am a big fan of having birthday parties although I’ve been a bit slack the last few years and haven’t had one.

Janet B (55 comments.) - June 14, 2010 - 8:47 am

What a fabulous idea! I am having a “soccer lunch” theme at my house on Wednesday. Family coming from Natal, so I thought I would get some of the “gees” into them, as I believe there’s no excitement in Hillcrest! LOL!
Looks like you had a lot of fun. Now I hope this comment posts properly! :)

Avril (Mom) (385 comments.) - June 14, 2010 - 8:41 am

Lots of fun !!!

Paul Furber (1 comments.) - June 13, 2010 - 10:33 pm

I so love the pic of Noid and his baby. Thank you my friend. xxx

Bradley’s 7th birthday party

Bradley had his birthday party today.  We invited a few school and home friends to join us for a game of  Ten Pin Bowling at Brightwater Commons and then for lunch at the Spur.

The kids had a blast.

They all enjoyed the bowling even the littler ones.  But there were a few lessons learned.  If I did it again, I would make sure that all the bigger kids were playing in one lane, and the littlies in the other.  That’s because the littler ones gave up very quickly, and the bigger ones couldn’t really play properly, and they kept having to play for the others just to get the board moving.

And as for the Spur… to have a kids party there is so NOT relaxing for the parent.  It’s far more stressful than doing it at home!

But the party was for the kids, and Bradley loved it… so it was all worth.

I’m not doing it again though!

I am so glad they had fun! I love the photos- such determination!

Michelle - May 9, 2010 - 1:51 am

It look like the kids had fun. Love the photo with Connor holding the ball & the look on his little face, so cute. Fabulous cake as well. Happy Birthday again Bradley!! xxxxx

Wenchy (49 comments.) - May 9, 2010 - 12:19 am

My favourite shot is also the one of Connor.

I do the party thing… year in, year out… and now I have extra kids and that is fabulous lol as I love kids parties.

Sharon (60 comments.) - May 8, 2010 - 9:40 pm

I absolutely love that shot of Connor holding the ball! I’m glad Bradley had a good time :)

[...] We had a lovely weekend with a birthday party where my son who has never played ten-pin bowling before did so very well – he got the whole run up and throw thing in no time! Kiara had the whole “drop and hope” thing going on! [...]

72/365 – Lance’s 40th birthday

It was Lance’s 40th birthday yesterday, and we had such a full day that I didn’t get a chance to edit and load the photos!

We took it really easy yesterday, just as he wanted it… he’s not interested in having a party so we’re actually going away for a night this coming weekend to celebrate. We spent most of the day at my parent’s house, where we had a braai (barbeque) and my mom made her famous chocolate cake with the now traditional smarties on it… and 4 candles, one for each decade:)

Having a laugh are Brian, my dad, Elaine and Lance

Connor got very tired towards the end of the afternoon, and the only thing that he wanted was a granny hug and a story:)
