A few weeks ago, I did this boudoir-styled maternity session in the veld. This was my first boudoir-styled shoot actually, and because the farm workers were really curious about what we were up to and it was getting so very hot in the sun, we hurried it a bit. These are my favourite shots from the shoot, and they just lend themselves to monochrome and dark sepia treatments.
This first one is my absolute favourite
Huge thanks to Y for letting me put these on my blog
The arrival of Nicola has been hugely anticipated in the local blogging and Twitter community, as her mommy Louisa has been blogging for years and Louisa even tweeted on her way to the hospital! I couldn’t wait to take her photos, so I took it upon myself to give Louisa a voucher for a photosession at her babyshower
(it was my first voucher that I gave out!)
And OMW she made us work hard today. When I got to Louisa’s house, she was telling me how Nicola sleeps all day and is awake all night… well she proved her mom wrong
Eventually Louisa’s mom got her to sleep!
As soon as I saw the kist in the lounge I knew I had to use it somehow!
Then as I walked out, I noticed this heirloom sewing machine that’s been passed down from daughter to daughter, so poor Louisa had to undress her again! But I think it was worth it, don’t you?
I met up with the Henriques family yesterday morning to take photos of Caleb, who is 12 days old. I ended up spending more time with his sisters, and we had quite a fun time in the garden.

Caleb was not very happy with this upset to his routine, and ended up being extremely unhappy with us all. So, I’m going back next weekend to try again, but I did manage to get some photos which I know Karen is dying to see, so here are a few photos of his older siblings (Sami who is 3, and Layla who is

Cannot wait to finish the set, and get L to smile properly for the camera… and I’m determined to charm Caleb until he’s putty in my hands
When Noelle contacted me a few weeks ago to take photos of her kids at St John’s College I got quite excited. I’d seen wedding and bridal photos taken at the school, and I knew the setting would be good… but I wasn’t prepared for just how good it was!
It’s the most magnificent school in Houghton and was designed by Sir Herbert Baker. Noelle wanted the photos taken there as her eldest son is in his last year at the school and she wanted photos of him in his school uniform with his first team rugby cap, as well as general family photos. I had an absolute ball, and I could have stayed there exploring with them for another hour or so at least, but the rain was about start again (we had arrived there in a HUGE downpour but thankfully the heavens cleared for an hour and the photoshoot could go ahead).
We started in the corridors as it was raining.

Murray was quite a character with all his posing

Then we went outside to the stone steps leading to the sports fields

I don’t think Lauren quite knew what to make of all the things I was trying to get them to do

Noelle told me the story about this pathway, and I just HAD to find some way to incorporate it in the photos. The pathway runs almost the length of the school, and was laid by the school pupils having detention over the years. The brick is not exactly the same down the length of the path, as I’m guessing they would have had to find different suppliers over the years.

It’s a huge pity the gardens were so wet, I would have really liked to have taken more photos of Lauren against some pretty flowers, but the only place I managed to find a spot relatively dry was under this HUGE jacaranda tree

And a couple of the many photos I took of John…

And last one… one of the photos I took of him in his prefects uniform and first team rugby cap.

Thanks so much for asking me to take the photos, I really enjoyed the experience, and I hope you like the sneak peak.
I’ve been following a whole load of photographers overseas who do senior photography, and I was dying to try it out, and I loved it… I think it should become more of a trend in South Africa. Not many people do it here yet.
Last week I went shopping to get an outfit to wear to the Batmitzvah because I was convinced I had nothing in my wardrobe. I couldn’t find anything I liked for the occasion, but instead found a new black dress.
As I mentioned on my other blog, I got home to discover that I’ve now got 6 black summer dresses! So I declared this week LBD week… and today is the third day of my black dress showdown… and apart from the few people that read my blog, no-one has even noticed! LOL!!
Anyhoodle, I’ve had a few requests on Twitter for some photos of the dresses, so Lance has been roped into taking some photos every evening of a very unmodel-like me. Tomorrow I’ll try figure out another way to stand ‘cos I’ve noticed that I favourite the one side… LOL!
Day 1 was a dress with detailed folds on the sleeves, and that funny foldy fabric that folds over the skirt
Day 2 was a three quarter sleeved a-line dress
Day 3, today, was a babydoll shaped dress (the new addition to my wardrobe) with my favourite rock-chick shoes
Hehe, lets see if anyone notices by Friday… but I’m guessing no-one will at this rate!
