We travelled to Ballito today, and for a change I actually struggled to get my DSLR out… normally when we travel I have my camera on my lap. This time it was just easier to use my iPhone and Instagram photos immediately to everyone… rather than taking the DSLR out, and using it.
But, there’s nothing that beats the quality of my camera… and I’m so glad that for part of the journey I made the effort, because I’ve got some awesome art images as a result.
The first 3 were taken as the sun came up while we were driving through the Free State.

and the last 2 were taken in Ballito as the sun set…

I also thought I’d show you the iPhone images I took today…

Hopefully the weather plays along with our plans tomorrow, and we can spend the day at the beach
My blog will be quiet for the next 2 days because I’m going to Zimbabwe to second shoot at a wedding, but in the meantime, here are some photos of my gorgeous kids hard at work
Connor’s teacher spoke to my mom about his drawing ability a few days ago, and we’ve been asked to get him to practise houses… which my mom got the kids to do this afternoon when I got to her house. They’re drawing on hand-held white boards if you’re wondering (it’s got a chalkboard at the back)
Connor’s house was a little wonky, but it was a good effort considering he wasn’t copying anything… but he does need to practise some more.

Playing with my macro lens again in low light… really late this evening in my garden with the only aloe that’s survived the huskies.

We had such gloomy weather today… so this strelitzia flower’s bright orange blooms just shouted at me when I got to my mom’s house. I just love the flowers. I love all the lines and the colours and the shapes.

I took the boys to Artjamming in Blu Bird centre today for them to paint canvases for their rooms. They LOVED it, and I love how the canvases turned out.
When we got there, Pam asked us whether the boys wanted to use pictures as templates. Connor said yes, and chose an aeroplane. Bradley however, was adamant that he wanted to paint the picture he had in his head… a house.
I think both are awesome. For a 3 year old, I think the red plane and green clouds on Connor’s painting are awesome, and the brown streaks are apparently water because it’s a water plane. He did the WHOLE thing himself. Even the windows with people in it.
As for Bradley’s… I LOVE the tree… it looks like those African flat topped trees in the veld. Also love the way he stuck to his guns about having a gold and silver house. It works. When Beauty saw it when she got home, she commented how he was an african boy

After Connor finished, we went next door to Col’Cacchios and had divine pizzas while Bradley finished his… it was an awesome afternoon, and I’m definitely taking them back there!
