You may remember the Gous family from the shoot I did with them last year in Pretoria.  Well, I was thrilled when Cat contacted me again this year to do their photos.  I’ve gotten to know Cat quite well over the last year via blogging and meet-ups and the odd lunch date, and it just made this shoot all the more special because I knew the family so much more (in fact I even got a hug from A when they got out of the car).

This year they came to my side of the world, and I met them at the Walter Sisulu Gardens for their photoshoot.  I love that place, there are so many different places for shoots in the park, that this time I got a completely different look to normal.

Just as Cat and H were explaining how this lying and rolling on the stairs is so typically L, H shouts…. there was a scorpion right next to him!! Seriously impressive that he saw it under the rock!!

I didn’t even take this photo ;)   Bradley took it… promise I did take one though, I just don’t like it enough to post it tonight.

As the title says, I had a day off today… no photoshoots for a change (but don’t despair, there’s a newborn shoot in the morning that you’ll see tomorrow night).

I spent the day with the kids. We shopped.  We went to Lifestyle and went on a few rides, booked a massage for next weekend, and stopped in at Tranquil Body Treats (was wowed by the fact that Leigh-Ann’s removed ALL sulphur from all her products so I bought chocolate bubblebath for the kids and some chocolate bath milkshake for myself)  I’m so so pleased that her  business is doing so well, and she’s being approached by medical companies for her eczema cream because it’s so amazing.

Then I took the kids for lunch, and we spent a few hours at home before taking the dogs to Emmerentia for a walk.

What you can’t really see in the photo is how much Connor is whining because he’s tired or how much Kimo is straining to get away from me… but I wasn’t prepared to let him run off and risk not being able to catch him in that massive place.

I’ve had a good birthday today.  Quiet… but good.

The stuff list on my other blog was just the trick, and I got a whole host of things from the list :) Because I didn’t get up to much apart from shopping and kids stuff and having dinner at my parents’ house, I thought I’d make today’s blog post with photos taken everywhere I went (apart from the shops)

My birthday actually started last night, when Madelein and her clan came over and we ordered take-away pizza from Colcacchios… that has to be the BEST take-away pizza we’ve ever had… and we managed to order wheat free pizza too!

I got so many compliments today about this perfume… even Connor told me that I smelt really nice :)

I finally, finally have something from Le Creussett

Oh and I just love these tulips that I got from my mom yesterday… and I just discovered the macro function on my new lens!!

I went to the opening of Tranquil Body Therapy at their market stall in Lifestyle Garden Centre… definitely buying stuff when I go there again tomorrow as I’ve discovered that Leigh-Ann’s (she owns it) kids creams are made without sulphur and sulphates!!   And the mens range looks quite good too.

Then it was dog walking time in the most beautiful golden light

And finally my mom’s famous chocolate cake…

Strong boy

I have been a little scarce lately, it’s been a little manic here this week, and this weekend is more than a little hectic too.  Hopefully I’ll be able to get through my blog reader next week, and post a little more ;)

I went to the Lent for Liam Thanksgiving shindig today that was held at Cool Runnings in Fourways.

Liam is the son of a local blogger, Wenchy, who has got ADHD and needs to go to remedial school.  Basically, his mom can’t afford the school fees for next year, and we’ve been raising money for him for a few months now.  Today’s event was to essentially get more money pay for his fees.

Here’s an extract from the information on the Facebook page:

Liam was diagnosed with ADHD when he was five years old. He also suffers from anxiety, panic attacks and depression.
Liam is currently in a main stream education environment where he is not coping. He receives remedial assistance on a weekly basis (as that is all his Mom can provide at the moment) as his basic reading and writing skills are very poor. His reading at 13, equals that off an 8 year old.
There is a professional who acts as Liam’s “scribe” as he cannot articulate information he knows into writing, an educational psychologist meets with Liam weekly and he attends a psychiatric hospital monthly to oversee his medication.
Liam is going to high school next year. Professional opinion is that Liam will not cope in a main stream environment – academically, socially nor emotionally.

I took the kids with me, and they had a ball playing with Laura’s kids (more photos from that later)… and found the pub and the grounds fascinating and were surprisingly not bored even though it was really not child friendly :) Thankfully the place was quiet, and the kids could run amok and shout and scream without too many people moaning ;)
