Angel’s Trash the Dress Photoshoot – Part 2 Trains

Angel and Neels have had a full run of photos for their wedding, from the engagement photos to their #Anglugs wedding which was a few weeks ago, and today it was their Trash the Dress shoot.

A Trash the Dress shoot is also known as a “Rock the Frock” shoot or a “Cherish the Dress” or “Day After” shoot and because it’s done after the rush of the wedding day, it’s a much more relaxed affair and allows the bride to wear her dress again… and this time it doesn’t really matter if it gets a little grubby in the process. You don’t really literally trash the dress;)

The second part of their Trash the Dress shoot was done in an old train yard (the first part was in her kitchen with her making cupcakes). Friends of the Rail kindly allowed us to use their Hermanstad station for the shoot, and it was AWESOME! The station was deserted apart from the volunteers who were getting it ready for the Woman’s Day steam train ride happening tomorrow, and they let us have full use of all the facilities, including allowing us to clamber into the old carriages and onto the locomotives:)

We had a blast!! I can definitely recommend doing a Day After shoot when you get married:)it’s just so much fun!

Oh these are stunning! Wish these type of shoots were around 10 years ago! I would have loved to do it. And nope after tearing the mules in my core with the twins I will never fit in the dress again, unless I get the dreaded tummy tuck.

Angel’s Trash the Dress Shoot – Part 1 Cupcakes

Angel and Neels have had a full run of photos for their wedding, from the engagement photos to their #Anglugs wedding which was a few weeks ago, and today it was their Trash the Dress shoot.

A Trash the Dress shoot is also known as a “Rock the Frock” shoot or a “Cherish the Dress” or “Day After” shoot and because it’s done after the rush of the wedding day, it’s a much more relaxed affair and allows the bride to wear her dress again… and this time it doesn’t really matter if it gets a little grubby in the process. You don’t really literally trash the dress;)

She wanted her shoot split in two, with the first part being done at their home with her, in her dress, making cupcakes (which were absolutely delish!). Which is of course perfect, considering she is the Cupcake Lady after all:)

Then we left the house (with cupcakes for snacks) to go to the next stop… a railway station:)

Sharon (60 comments.) - August 28, 2010 - 10:54 am

Most glamorous cupcake baker I have ever seen :)

cat@juggling act (218 comments.) - August 9, 2010 - 7:23 am

Oh my they are stunning! As are the cupcakes. And I need that rose ring. I really do.

Wendy Herwyn - August 8, 2010 - 10:57 pm

What a nice colors. The cupcakes are looking as apart of the dress :) these are also colorfull as the dress.
May i ask what you are planning to do with the wedding dress after the shoot?
I might be interested in purchasing the trashed wedding dress as is, no cleaning required!
This is a serious request for a good cause.
Please feel free to contact me at herwyn.w@skynet.be for more info or pass my request to Angel please.
I hope you will contact me.
Thank you so much
Wendy

Wedding Photography at Forum Homini Part 2

I can’t resist posting a few more of the workshop photos I took at Forum Homini.  I’ve been editing more of them, in order to choose my favourites to submit for review by Dror and Andrea, and found more gems in the process.

I also thought I’d show you some shots of the other photogs that were there, because in true blogging style, I had to record other memories from the day, and not just take photos of the gorgeous couple!  They include Lisa,  Ichizu, Kat Forsyth, Stella Sassen, Ursula Tocik, Chanique and Monique

Kim - March 1, 2010 - 8:37 pm

A Wedding Workshop at Forum Homini

I attended the RE.Invent workshop that was held in the gorgeous surroundings of Forum Homini, in the Cradle of Humankind, today.  The wedding photography workshop was held by Dror Eyal and Andrea Carlysle, and it was amazing! I learnt so much, and got to spend some time chatting to photographers that I’ve only chatted to via Twitter and through blogging… so that was awesome too!

After the learning sessions, we did a shoot with a couple, Genevieve and Greg.  We not only took photos around the hotel, but Dror and Andrea took us to one of their spots on the property for some fun and grungy photos too.  It was the perfect venue for this… and you know how I like veld and open spaces for my photography, so it suited me down to the ground!

I’m posting a lot more than I usually do, it’s a little bit of overkill, but I cannot choose fewer shots! I like them all for different reasons.  I’m also really hoping that I got different shots to the other 20 photographers that were there:)

Now the problem is going to be choosing 5 from these images to send to Dror for review!

Wish you were around when I got married!
Simply stunning.
Shot number 10 is my fav.

Girish (78 comments.) - February 24, 2010 - 9:06 am

Too good :)

I still feel I like your earlier logo. The flower isn’t looking that nice.

ah yeh it’s going to tough to pick 5 shots.

The third last shot is pretty similar to a a bit old bollwood shot where the actress in the lead role poses someways similarly. The fabric in her hand would be generally a ‘dupatta’.

Take care.

Trash the Dress in Newtown with Fiona

It was actually great having two people for our Newtown Trash the Dress photoshoot with 2 very different styles of dresses, as it allowed me to take very different photos in the same setting.  Here are my favourite photos of Fiona from the afternoon.

This was the closest that we got to having a “groom”:)

And that’s now the last of the Trash the Dress photos that I’m going to post.  I LOVE doing shoots like this, and hope to do another one really soon!
