About

My Twitter profile says the following about me: Mom, photographer, blogger, social-media-holic, financial services geek, and shopaholic that loves my kids, books, red wine, good food and lots of laughs.

That basically sums me up, but because this blog is about my photography, here’s more about that side of me…

I’m a lifestyle photographer that specialises in on-location portrait and event photography. I mostly shoot maternity, newborn, family, family events (like christenings, batmitzvahs and birthdays), weddings (including engagement, the actual wedding and Trash the Dress shoots), and corporate events.

My style of photography is almost photo-journalistic, but it is slightly styled.  My aim with every shoot is to try and capture the essence of the person that I’m photographing.  I love capturing special moments that are not often visible to many other people; and there’s nothing I love more than when I get comments on my blog expressing how I managed to capture energy and feelings that existed that day (whether it’s the excitement at an event, or a beautiful intense look from a mom to her new baby).

I started taking a photo-a-day in June 2007 as a challenge, and I’ve grown to love photography.  I’m mostly self-taught, other than the year that I was a member of a local camera club, which taught me LOADS about photography.  I learn by reading photographic blogs, and by following the “right” people on Twitter and Facebook.

photographicblog_winnerMy old photoblog http://jenty-mylifeinpics.blogspot.com won the 2008 SA Photographic Blog of the year award, which I’m very proud about.  But it was time for me to move on from the old blog…. hence this site.  This site is more of a weblog now… it’s a blog that’s also my website.  I don’t only post about client shoots on my blog.  My blog is about my photographic journey though life (which includes my client shoots).

Check out my Rates page, and browse through my portfolio and blog posts to get an idea of the style  of photos that I take.

Use the Contact’s menu item to send me a message if you’d like to book me for a shoot, and we can discuss costs.  I don’t have a studio at home yet, so I’ll be taking photos on location – at your house or a park or wherever you’d like.   I only take on shoots on weekends and public holidays as I do work full-time too.
