Mohamed spoke to me about this photoshoot just after his daughter, Tahani’s birthday party a few months ago, but we had to wait quite a while for the photoshoot to work in both our diaries. At the time he told me that he wanted photos of himself… after I’d done the photos of his family at the end of 2010, he realised that he was unhappy with the way he looked, and he has undergone quite a transformation since then.
Mohamed has lost a lot of weight since the first time I met the Mayat family, and he’s training for the New York marathon in November 2012!! And this new sports car of his is part of his new lifestyle. It only makes sense then to celebrate it with a photoshoot
and to incorporate the things he loves… cars, running and his family.
The idea behind the photoshoot was to take photos of him and his Porsche. It’s a Porsche Cayman R Limited Production 2012 model. Such a gorgeous colour… you know how I love green
When we organised the photoshoot, we were going to show it off by taking photos of him and his car on the Mandela bridge in Johannesburg… but as I was driving over the bridge to meet the family, I decided that it wasn’t going to work… the bridge was far too busy and I was really worried someone would damage the car. So instead, I suggested the streets around the Rand Club in the middle of the CBD. I just knew that the classic lines and colour of the old Rand Club building would show the car off perfectly… and I was so pleased when they agreed. In fact, it could not have been a better location, because the street was virtually empty and we had loads of space to play with.
LOVED this
just wished the kids on their skates had climbed back up the hill for more… they would have made awesome props! LOL!
This was such an amazing photoshoot actually, because it was my first photoshoot with the focus on a car. And it was just so natural to work it into the shoot for him because Mohamed is in the motoring trade, and it’s so very clear that he’s passionate about his cars. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s a stunning looking machine
LOVE this shoot!
