I took my camera to Camera Tek today for a bit of a cleaning… so this afternoon I tested the macro lens out again in my garden just to make sure the images were perfectly clean. And thankfully they are 
Then I spotted an old rose which the dogs for some reason had decided wasn’t good enough to destroy…

It looked like fluff but I just couldn’t get rid of it… had smudges at the bottom of my images
Did you take some pics at f22-f32? That’s usually when the spots become really clear in pics.
didn’t actually, but will try that tomorrow… I was getting the smudge at 2.8 before
I usually shoot a unfocussed pic of a white area on my laptop/desktop screen at f32 (or f22 depending on lens), then adjust the shutter speed to get a gray image, the spots then are easy to see on the camera LCD when zoomed in. Have used this method to find and clean sensor spots myself.

Can also be dust in the lens so try the f-stop thing with a different lens.

Beautiful! I love macro photography. The photo of the rose is beautiful… It looks so quiet, and secretive… Does that make any sense? Lol
