I was the second shooter at a wedding yesterday (photos to be posted in a few days), so I didn’t book anything for today because I knew I was going to be exhausted. I was right! I did however have an extremely full day, filled with friends!
This morning I met up with a few online moms forum friends at River Cafe for a “quiet” morning. We had a fabulous chat, and some good food, and the kids had a ball!! I haven’t been on that forum very much lately, and it was great catching up with everyone (and meeting some faces for the first time in real life).
The service however, left a lot to be desired. One of the orders never arrived at all, yet we were charged for it. The worst part of the whole morning, was when some dude arrived at the table telling us that we had to move because there was a party booked for that spot, and we had to be out of there within 10m minutes!! Colleen had booked the table six weeks before and no mention was made of the fact that there was a time limit to our reservation! Needless to say, we refused to move, mostly because they’d actually only just brought some of the kids food!! Then the dude threatened to move the shade covering if we didn’t move. Well, you can imagine how irate we all got then. Nice way to treat your customers!
But anyhoo, here are a few photos…

After that drama, Madelein and her kids went and collected Pierre, and they came to our house for a braai and a swim (first swim of the season)… and we had a really awesome afternoon. After the boys played cricket with the dads, the kids all went swimming… not for long however, their teeth were chattering within no time because of the temperature of the water!

What the dogs thought of this swimming idea… Kimo nested on the pool net, and Kitara just didn’t get it!

It was a great day with friends… just the kind of day that I needed
shock horror, not one pic of my kids!!!
@Colleen, now sorry
should’ve really taken my long lens. I was a little too lazy today to move much, and your kids weren’t at the table much
I just love the photo of Connor and the little girl, so cute.
Looks like a lovely week-end. I just love Connor’s expressions, he is so expressive, you almost want to be there to hear what he is saying!!!
Good – you need more days like that. First swim? Now they’ll want our net off and it hasn’t rained yet! Connor keeps telling me that he can’t swim until it rains! Lovely photos!
My kids can’t wait to get into the pool either, but it hasn’t been as hot down here as its been up there. As for the restaurant. Their statement of “A tranquil and un-rushed environment in which to enjoy time out with friends and family” really goes against your experience. I really hope you had a major complaint to their management.
Christian and Chloe – too Gorgeous !!!
I can’t believe how big the dogs are already, Jeanette! Wow!
Stunning shots as always.
My pet hate is bad service…nothin irks me more.
These are just great. Bet you you won’t go to the restaurant again.
What a fun day!! Great shots!
The photo’s of River Cafe are stunning! I really wanted to join you girls but Don was away this weekend so I spent the weekend at my sister. Hopefully we can all do it again soon
Look like you had a stunning day! Love the pics
Those are awesome photo’s thanks for sharing. =)
Sounds like they treated you badly at River Cafe. I’ll tell you something interesting though, and to demonstrate that it is, indeed, a small world… I attended the party that you were kicked out for. It wasn’t mine, but one of Karin’s friends party.
I think that they handled the situation badly, and should have made another plan for you guys. We have had poor service there before as well – they just don’t seem to get it…
Forgot to say… Stunning shots! (as usual)
