Really not sure what Connor was trying to do here.
I read an article about lifestyle photography a few days ago, and the blogger reminded me why I loved photography and why I’m a lifestyle photographer and not a studio photographer. I love that I can capture life as it happens, in natural surroundings. And this photo is just that. It’s not a beautiful portrait, but it’s Connor to a T, and I want to remember him this way.

If you’re wondering about the light…
I took this tonight. It was pitch dark in the garden, and I couldn’t really see where Connor and Kitara were through the viewfinder! There was a Canon 580EXII attached to the camera, set as the master but not firing. A Canon 430EXII was mounted on a lightbox in front of me, and slightly to the left, and it was facing them.
I enjoyed my experimentation this evening with the flashes… but OMG I’m frustrated that my flash trigger system is not working. I’m very tempted to splurge and get a Pocket Wizard set! Either that, or I need another slave flash to balance the light.
Hey,
Thanks for the setup information. That Lifestyle photographer is a nice read. Thanks for that as well.
Yes – that is Connor, the way he is!!
it’s night time .. better than the usual flash!
The light looks fine to me
Now you are way too technical for me – I need a course or something. The picture is stunning – just a boy at play.
Love it! Gently, gently making friends!!
I love photographs like this!
I get very annoyed when I’m taking pictures somewhere and someone keeps telling the kid to “Smile for Angel. Smile for the camera. Look at the camera. Smile. Smile.”
