It was National Braai Heritage Day today, and in the spirit of our love of braai-ing, we did as many other South African’s did today… we invited friends over for a braai (barbeque). We didn’t do the normal steak, chops and wors braai, we braaied hamburgers instead.
But they weren’t normal hamburgers either, I made the burgers from the Jamie’s Dinners: The Essential Family Cookbook
cookbook. I spotted the recipe over the weekend, and thought that this particular recipe would be good as you add parmesan to the burgers, and I’m a sucker for any kind of cheese! They were fabulous!
Then it was playtime… first with the newest craze in our household – Bakugan toys…
Our pool is in a very sorry state, so the kids then got hold of the garden sprays (and watered my grass at the same time as playing)
So all in all, it was a fabulous public holiday
It’s just such a pity I’m working tomorrow!
Looks like you had loads of fun! It was cold in CT, so no braaing for us!
oooh, looks like a fabulous day! tfs
LOVE the one of Carmen and Conner with the hose
I really loe the first shot…..and the rest are so very full of life! fabulously fun. thanks for the smiles.
my nephew LOVES Bakugan! LOL we went to NYC while I was home and he hunted high and low for those bloody things. The burgers look yummy. We have that cookbook but haven’t tried any recipes yet- weird as I’m usually all over his recipes.
Stunning pictures! I am missing you guys so much
not to mention the weather! It’s freezing here! Bakugan, you say …. we can find those here. Maybe I can get Thomas off the Gormiti train
Yum those burgers look very yummy! It looks like you guys had an awesome public holiday and that the kids had lots of fun in the sun playing with water
Very cool pics!!!
It seems that everybody braai’d yesterday. I love the pic of the kids around the sprayer.
Bakugans are Megan’s favourite at the moment too.

My nephews are also into Bakugans, they are a third of the price at the Bruma Chinese market.
