Braai for Heritage

It was National Braai Heritage Day today, and in the spirit of our love of braai-ing, we did as many other South African’s did today… we invited friends over for a braai (barbeque).  We didn’t do the normal steak, chops and wors braai, we braaied hamburgers instead.

But they weren’t normal hamburgers either, I made the burgers from the Jamie’s Dinners: The Essential Family Cookbook
cookbook.  I spotted the recipe over the weekend, and thought that this particular recipe would be good as you add parmesan to the burgers, and I’m a sucker for any kind of cheese!  They were fabulous!

Then it was playtime… first with the newest craze in our household – Bakugan toys…

Bakugan Brawl

Handfuls of Bakugans

Our pool is in a very sorry state, so the kids then got hold of the garden sprays (and watered my grass at the same time as playing)

The wonder of water

fun with the spray

So all in all, it was a fabulous public holiday:)  It’s just such a pity I’m working tomorrow!

my nephew LOVES Bakugan! LOL we went to NYC while I was home and he hunted high and low for those bloody things. The burgers look yummy. We have that cookbook but haven’t tried any recipes yet- weird as I’m usually all over his recipes.
