Lance and I bumped in Karen when we went to Cresta a few weeks ago before we went away to Forum Homini, and yesterday afternoon’s braai at our house with Lance’s old school friends was the result of that chance encounter.
We worked out that the last time we had all gotten together was more than 10 years ago, and only one of the couples had actually met our boys before. We see Fanie and Louisa every few months, but we only keep in contact with the others via Facebook (and the Facebook connections have been quite recent). It was great fun, and thankfully all the kids got on well and played so nicely (the kids quickly realised that my boys couldn’t speak Afrikaans and they all switched to English). The adults had loads of laughs while reminiscing back to their school days in Westonaria all those years ago (not saying how many years, that would be telling!).
It was quite a feat getting everyone together, and they drove from all corners of Gauteng to get to us (and Mpumalanga!). And of course, I had to try out my new camera while they were all here…
