On Saturday afternoon, I took the boys to a birthday party at the Ski Deck in Randburg.  And yes, you are right if you’re thinking that it doesn’t normally snow in South Africa… these are centres to teach people how to ski before they hit the real McCoy slopes overseas.  This place is apparently smaller than the other ski slopes in Joburg, but that was fine because we had the venue to ourselves… until the next party arrived (you had to be out of there very fast at the end of your allotted time).

What the mother failed to mention on the invitations, was that a change of clothes was in order!! I had NO idea the slopes were wet white carpet!! The kids were absolutely soaked by the end of the party… and it wasn’t exactly a warm day.  In fact, the one mom got her husband to drive to the closest shopping centre to buy new clothes for her child. I wish I’d had someone to do that for my kids!!

Anyhoo, they had a blast going down the slope on their bums!

Connor had his own special way of sliding down on his back.  He couldn’t get the hang of the handles on the bum boards – which meant he got extra wet especially when he tried going down on his tummy!

If I’d known about the place, I probably would have organised Bradley’s birthday there… the only schlepp is that you have to cater yourself.
