Please say “Granny”

Connor vocabulary is growing every day, but for some reason he’s learning very arb words first.  His new word today was “rain” when my mom picked him up from nursery school this afternoon.  She was telling me the story this evening, and then I just had to take a photo of her hugging him and asking him so nicely to “Please say granny”  to which he keeps saying “No”!

please-say-granny

My poor mom, he calls everyone else in the family by their names… except her… she’s just “aaah” still.  But LOL, I’m sure he’s nearly saying it.

SECRET AGENT MAMA (147 comments.) - January 10, 2009 - 6:20 am

I hope she reads this reply and finds comfort.

David only recently started to say my name.

“Please baby, say Mama.”

“Papa!”

“No, Mama!”

“Baba!”

“No, Ma. Ma.”

“Ka ka!”

“Michael this baby will never say my name.”

And then one day. I was upset about something. He put his hand on my leg and said, “Mama.” He hasn’t stopped since.

Hang in there Avril!

I remember the days when my son wouldn’t even say Mama because I was always there and he didn’t need to call me. Alas, he is 8 years old now and still doesn’t need me!

We had both families in last week and when my family left, my 2 year old started calling his grandpa on my husband’s side, “Pop-pa.” This would absolutely kill my mother to hear that she said “Pop-pa” before “Grammy.” She’s been harping on me to get him to say Grammy since he was about 6 months old. These little ones are just going to do what they want to do and say what they want when they want, huh!?

I love this story! My daughter who spends every waking hour with me, will still not say Mommy! She does however, say Da Da, and Daddy! How frustrating is that?!

Oh Jeanetter, you nailed this moment. You captured it perfectly. A boy and his nana (whom is wrapped around his cute little finger).
