An attempt at Xmas portraits

I should have waited until Lance got home I suppose, but I was as impatient as ever.  OMW, what a disaster.  LOL!  It was impossible to get Connor to sit next to Bradley and get a photo of both of them.  So instead, I tried to take photos of them individually.  It still wasn’t perfect, but I think I have a few that I’ll be able to design a nice Christmas card with.

Bradley was easy!

I managed to get these 2 of Connor which are the only decent ones (I can’t decide which one I like more)

… before he threw the hat in disgust and started chanting “NO”

The shot of Bradley is just gorgeous. He is such a handsome little man.

And Connor… what a cutie. I gave up trying to get posed photos of Zoe at that age. I went candid shots for that years Christmas card. lol

Hi Jeanette

Your photos of your kids aren’t bad at all, it’s definitely above average as I can see that you put a lot of thought into your images. When photographing kids try to remember kids will be kids(especially boys… :-) ) Looking at your pics I would guess Bradley is between 5-7 and Connor is between 18 months and 2.5 yrs old. Try to make your shoot more interactive. I’ve found that singing is a great way to get kids involved in a shoot. At first they look at you like they’re thinking:’ARE YOU MAD” but keep singing and you will soon have them dancing around. Speaking of dancing I’ve also found that a lot of kids really enjoy music so try playing some of their favourite songs on your cellphone so that they can dance around a bit. Use props like little chairs, small trampoline, or even coloured plastic balls to keep their attention. Trying to put hats on little kids for photograps are an absolute nightmare so to speak, try to make a game of it, put the hat over their eyes for a second and play peekaboo. You can even get a funny hat for yourself to get some form of reaction. If dad is around for the pics, have him throw the kids in the air, swing them around or even hold the older ones upside down by their feet for a bit…

Basically what I’m trying to say is make the shoot fun for the kids and you’ll get stunning results! Watch out you might just get them addicted to taking photos cos it’s so much fun…. :-)

All lovely, but I love the one of him looking at the tassle on the end of his hat. So cute.

Sweet man!! At least you could capture them. Daniel comes right up to the lens and thinks it’s rather funny leaving his nose print on the lens :) Boys. . .

I prefer the first one of Connor. In the second one he looks unhappy which isn’t Christmassy.

Well the first shot is definitely adorable. However, the ones of Bradley have potential too. :) Good luck with the next round.
