Baby Emma

Here’s a sneak preview for Natasha and Graeme.  Hope you like them.

I took these photos this morning.  It was my first newborn shoot.  Emma is 10 days today, and is very wide awake already.  The ideal time to take newborn photos is when they’re sleeping, but this little one only dozed for about 5 minutes.  I didn’t get to take the curled up photos that I wanted to get, but I’m quite pleased with the results anyway.

Love these!! I have that same plate and took a shot of a baby on it not that long ago. Too funny! It’s from IKEA right? Anyway, terrific shots… all.

To answer your question… believe it or not I used flash for the whole shoot. There was very little natural light to work with so I really had no choice. One or two were close to a window with some nice light, but I still needed help from the flash.

You nailed these Jeanette. Great shots – all of them. I especially LOVE the ones on the big round dish. The lighting is gorgeous. Great inspiration for my newborn shoot tomorrow. I only hope I can do so well! c

Just beautiful.. arent newborn shoots fun! so stress free.. normally :-)
I hope you take this well.. I know one of the best things that have helped me w/ my photography are fellow photographers I look to for advice.. With these photos I think the composition is beautiful! I wouldnt change any thing.. but I found the colors a bit flat.. and I felt they needed to be darkened a hair and the highlights brought up a hair on a few.. I can show you what I mean if you email me one or two and ill email them back edited.. w/ steps.
Let me know! cause really.. the photo itself, is there! I jus tthink it look even better w/ a bit more processing

Sooo beautiful!! I heard it’s hard to get those sleeping photos. One of the photographers I follow says she has once spent a couple of hours waiting for the baby to fall asleep!! I loove the second photo.

Wow, Jeanette, I’m so impressed! Newborns can be very difficult to photograph and for your first shoot, this is absolutely amazing! Very, very well done.
