Art

Graffiti face and dead fire

THREE CORNERS - JULY I chose Art as the theme this month.  I had such grand ideas of taking some shots of true African art, but I ran out of time.  LOL!  So, instead, here are 3 shots of different types of art that I see around me most days. I took this one at the beginning...

I can never get myself to do something like you have done here, shooting or post processing the image to be at an angle. I was taught to be more traditional in photojournalism, with level horizon lines and such. This is more art which I need practice. If you don’t mind, I’ll link to your blog for inspiration. Thanks!! http://perry-myworld.blogspot.com/

The whirlwind that is a toddler with a new wheelbarrow

New Wheelbarrow

I love the motion in this photo.  I’ve never got this right before… having the subject in focus (well, kind of) but the background a complete blur.

Macro of an iris

Purple iris

I finally played with the remote switch that I’ve borrowed from Tanya.  It made quite a difference with the macro shots, but I found that the lens still shook slightly… it might be the tripod that’s not sturdy enough. Purple Iris It’s been such a mild winter, that the garden is starting to bloom already....

kcblog - July 29, 2008 - 5:56 am

Great shots! When I do macro I have to lock up the mirror to eliminate all of the shake along with using the tripod and the remote. You have very nice photos and a great eye along with some post processing skills to boot. Nice all around!

That is an amazing close up and incredibly vibrant colors. :)

quilly - July 28, 2008 - 11:27 pm

Ack! I just came from the blog of a new photographer. I’m certain YOU don’t need my tips. Sorry.

quilly - July 28, 2008 - 11:26 pm

Irises are one of my favorite flowers. This color — this photo — is lovely.

Have you got your tripod set securely so every leg is solid on the ground and your bubbles are level? AND do you have all the different adjustment levers tightened down where you want them? I once forgot to tighten the swing arm and ruined what should have been a prime shot.

Melanie's Expressions - July 28, 2008 - 11:23 pm

Hi Jenty, I enjoyed looking through your blog too! You have some great looking images here!

jientje - July 28, 2008 - 9:31 pm

[...] know, I’ve taken photos of purple irises so many times, but they’re one of my favourite flowers, and they’re looking so beautiful [...]

All just crazy gorgeous! The way you capture the feeling in all of the kid portraits is amazing. It’s like standing there, but even better looking. I don’t know how you do it, but you have serious talent.

quilly - July 27, 2008 - 11:09 am

Every photo is incredible! You are amazing at capturing “kid”. And that first photo — all those colors subtly hidden in the leaf — keeps calling me back. Awesome.

tiff - July 27, 2008 - 10:56 am

Wow Jenty!
These just take my breath away.
Seriously.

Love the cake and love the little man with the candied face! Too cute.
